Aion 2 Guides

Aion 2 is NCSoft's MMORPG sequel to the original Aion, returning players to the fantasy world of Atreia roughly 200 years later. Built around fast manual combat, free flight, character builds, PvE, PvP, and large-scale exploration, the sequel takes familiar parts of Aion and rebuilds them around a much more modern combat and progression system.

The Global version of Aion 2 comes to PC through Steam and PURPLE, introducing the game to players across North America, South America, Europe, and Japan. Whether you're deciding on a class, working out a build, preparing for PvP, or trying to understand one of its progression systems, our Aion 2 guides below are built around the questions that actually come up while playing.

What is Aion 2?

Aion 2 takes place around two centuries after the original game, following the collapse of the Tower of Eternity and major changes across Atreia. Daevas continue to fight for survival in a world threatened by the Balaur, while the conflict between the Elyos and Asmodians remains an important part of the setting.

You play as a Daeva and develop a character through quests, equipment, skills, Stigmas, combat progression, and increasingly difficult activities. Aion 2 retains the identity of a large-scale MMORPG, but its moment-to-moment gameplay puts considerably more emphasis on direct player control than traditional tab-target combat.

Combat, Classes, and Builds

Combat in Aion 2 is manual and action-focused, making movement, positioning, timing, and mechanical execution important alongside your character's equipment. Classes fill very different roles across melee damage, ranged pressure, magic, tanking, healing, and support, so choosing a class changes far more than the weapon you're holding.

Builds become more specialized as progression opens additional options. Stigmas can change the abilities available to a class, while gear and other progression systems influence how effectively a character performs in both PvE and PvP. That also means there isn't necessarily one build that makes sense for every part of the game, especially when moving between solo content, group encounters, and fights against other players.

Flight and Exploring Atreia

Flight remains one of Aion's defining features in Aion 2. Daevas can use their wings to move vertically through the world rather than treating the environment as a mostly flat MMO map, with flight playing into traversal, exploration, and aerial combat.

The expanded movement system is part of a broader emphasis on exploring Atreia. Players can travel on foot, take to the air, and swim through parts of the environment while searching for objectives, progression opportunities, and content spread throughout the world.

PvE, Dungeons, and Progression

Aion 2 includes content for both solo players and groups, with progression extending through quests, exploration, dungeons, equipment, character levels, and increasingly difficult combat encounters. Group content creates different demands depending on your class, with damage, tanking, healing, support, positioning, and encounter knowledge all affecting how a party performs.

Character progression also feeds back into the harder activities you can take on. Improving equipment and developing a stronger build can open the door to tougher encounters and better rewards, while changes to skills and Stigmas give players additional ways to refine how their class actually plays rather than relying entirely on raw Gear Score.

PvP in Aion 2

PvP continues to be an important part of Aion 2, with the game's combat systems creating a very different environment once the target can fight back, reposition, interrupt your setup, or pressure you from outside your preferred range. Class strengths can consequently shift between PvE and PvP, with mobility, crowd control, burst damage, survivability, support, and the ability to reach or escape another player becoming much more valuable.

Gear and builds still matter, but PvP also places greater pressure on positioning, Stigma choices, timing, and execution. Our guides below cover these systems alongside class rankings, builds, progression, and the other mechanics worth understanding as you make your way through Atreia.
