Are Upgrades Permanent in R.E.P.O.?

You’ll be glad to hear that, yes, character upgrades in R.E.P.O. are permanent—which means every time you buy one, you’re making a long-term investment in not dying horribly. Unlike temporary purchases, upgrades stick with you, boosting things like health, damage, and speed. Sounds great, right? Well, there’s a catch—you can’t just throw all your money at upgrades and expect to survive.
How to Spend Smart Without Dying Dumb
Weapons are a must. Your crewmates don’t come with much firepower, and some enemies (looking at you, Huntsman) don’t take kindly to you just running around and hoping for the best. A Tranq Gun or something deadlier will keep you from becoming horror chow.
Healing isn’t a scam—most of the time. If you’re at 10 HP or less, even a Gnome could sneeze on you and send you to an early grave. But if you’re already low and most enemies still one-shot you, maybe save your cash for something more useful.
Health Upgrades: The two-for-one deal. Buying a Health Upgrade raises your max HP and heals 20 HP—kind of like a bonus prize for making good decisions.
Don’t spread healing like cheap butter. If you give everyone a tiny bit of HP, you’re just delaying the inevitable. Instead, focus on keeping key crewmates alive, so at least someone is left to tell the story.

Final Blurb
Yes, upgrades are permanent, but your crewmates aren’t—unless you balance weapons, healing, and upgrades wisely. Spend smart, fight smarter, and maybe, just maybe, you won’t end up as another cautionary tale.
