The Broken Crown Jewel Totem Fragment is one of the first pieces you need for the Totem of Rightful Rulership quest in Avowed. Unlike some other fragments that are hidden in dangerous or distant locations, this one is right in plain sight—if you know where to look.

Here’s a simple guide on how to find it and what you need to do beforehand.

Step 1: Unlock Access to Paradis Hightown

If you’re early in the game and just arrived in Paradis, you won’t be able to enter Hightown immediately. The main gate will be closed, and the guards won’t let you through yet.

To gain access:

  • Follow the main story until you trigger a series of events leading to the Envoy’s resurrection.

  • This unlocks the "An Untimely End" quest.

  • Once you have that quest, Hightown will be accessible, and you can enter freely.

Step 2: Find Sanza’s Emporium

  • Head to Paradis Hightown Market in Dawnshore.

  • Look for a red building on the left side of the market street.

  • Enter the building to find Sanza, a vendor specializing in treasure maps and miscellaneous goods.

It’s a good idea to talk to Sanza before moving on, as doing so will add another quest, "Mapping the Living Lands," to your journal.

Step 3: Grab the Totem Fragment

  • After speaking with Sanza (or ignoring him completely), look for a door to the left inside the shop.

  • Open the door to enter another section of the store.

  • Right in front of you on the table, you’ll find:

    • The Broken Crown Jewel Totem Fragment

    • An Artifact Observations note (optional, but provides lore insight)

Simply pick up the fragment, and you’re done. No fights, no puzzles, just a free piece of a powerful artifact.

Final Notes

  • The Broken Crown Jewel Totem Fragment is part of the Totem of Rightful Rulership side quest.

  • You must unlock access to Paradis Hightown before you can enter Sanza’s Emporium.

  • The fragment is sitting openly on a table—no lockpicking or sneaking required.

  • Talking to Sanza can also start the "Mapping the Living Lands" quest, so it’s worth the conversation.

This is one of the easiest Totem Fragments to collect, so grab it early and move on to the next step in your journey.
