Big Walk Belt Location: Where to Find the Belt

The Belt in Big Walk is found inside one of the blue equipment buildings scattered around the island, with one of the more useful areas to search sitting uphill from the starting region near the yellow lighthouse and Black Tower. The confusing part is that these blue gear structures can also contain Backpacks, so finding the correct building matters more than simply running into the first blue structure you see.

You will also need another player once you find the Belt, because Big Walk does not allow you to strap equipment onto your own hip. A friend has to attach it for you, which also unlocks the Big Help achievement once the Belt is actually being worn.

Where to Find the Belt in Big Walk

Belts appear inside the blue equipment structures found around the island, which are the same general family of buildings used for Backpacks and other carrying gear. If you are specifically hunting the Belt rather than waiting to stumble across one during normal exploration, head toward the high ground between the starting area, yellow lighthouse, and Black Tower, where you can find one of these larger rounded blue structures.

The Belt itself looks more like a small satchel or hip bag than a traditional belt, so do not expect a long strap sitting on the floor. Once you enter the correct gear building, look for the smaller carrying item that attaches around the side of a player’s body rather than the larger Backpack that sits across their back.

Belt Route From the Starting Area

Starting from the main area where your group loads into the world, turn left and begin heading uphill toward the large gateway out of the hub. This shortcut needs to have been opened from the opposite side already, so groups that are extremely early in the game may need to progress farther around the island before they can use this particular route.

Once the gateway is open, continue through it and keep climbing rather than turning back toward the lower starting paths. You should eventually reach a large red circular marking on the ground, which is a much better landmark than trying to memorize individual trees or rocks around the hill.

From the red circle, continue looking farther uphill for the blue equipment structures. The wider area sits toward the yellow lighthouse and Black Tower, and the Belt can be found inside one of the rounded blue gear buildings here.

If the first building gives you a Backpack, you have not necessarily gone to the wrong part of the map. Backpacks and Belts use very similar equipment structures, so check the other nearby blue building rather than abandoning the area and walking halfway across the island again.

How to Tell the Belt and Backpack Locations Apart

The equipment buildings are similar enough that I would not rely entirely on their silhouette from a long distance, especially when approaching them from above or below on the hill. The more useful distinction comes once you get close enough to see the actual equipment inside.

A Backpack is the larger item meant for carrying general equipment on another player’s back, while the Belt is the smaller hip-mounted bag used with communication devices. If you walk inside and immediately see a Backpack, keep checking the surrounding blue gear structures until you find the hip item instead.

This is also why searching the area is more reliable than treating one exact hut as the only Belt spawn. The blue buildings are consistent landmarks for equipment, but the object you need is the Belt itself.

How to Unlock Big Help With the Belt

Finding or picking up the Belt does not complete Big Help, because the achievement description specifically requires you to wear something on your hip. Once somebody in the group has the Belt, stand beside another player and have them attach it to the hip slot on your character.

You cannot equip it yourself, and simply carrying the Belt around in your hands will not count. Another person needs to perform the attachment, after which Big Help should register for the player wearing it.

If several people need the achievement, the group can pass the same Belt around and attach it to each player rather than searching for a separate one every time. Big Help is also part of the full completion route covered in our Big Walk trophy and achievement guide.

What Does the Belt Do in Big Walk?

The Belt gives your character a hip storage position specifically suited to smaller communication equipment, including a walkie-talkie or portable radio. This lets you carry one of those devices without occupying the item you are already holding in your hands, although the same co-op restriction applies once something is attached to your hip.

You cannot reach down and manage your own Belt, so another player has to place the device there or remove it when you want to use it directly. A walkie-talkie stored on the Belt can still receive communication, which makes the setup useful for someone who mainly needs to listen while carrying another object, but they cannot actively speak through the walkie-talkie until another player removes it and hands it back.

For the Belt itself, though, the important part is much simpler: head uphill from the starting region toward the yellow lighthouse and Black Tower area, search the rounded blue equipment buildings until you find the hip bag rather than a Backpack, and have another player attach it to your character to finish Big Help.
