Can You Lose Rank in Marvel Rivals?

Yes, you can lose rank in Marvel Rivals — but for the most part only if you keep losing matches. If you’re on a losing streak, your rank will drop. So if you’re Gold and lose a bunch, you could fall back to Silver. However…

Here’s the good news: you won’t lose rank from inactivity unless you’re in Grandmaster or higher. If you stop playing in Gold or need to take a break for a bit, your rank will stay put, at least until a new season and/or a rank reset happens.

Will I Lose Rewards If I Drop Rank?

Nope. The rewards are based on your highest rank reached during the season, not the rank you end at. So if you hit Gold and stop playing, you still get the Gold reward (like the Moon Knight skin), even if you fall back to Silver later.

What Happens at Season Reset?

When a season ends, everyone’s rank soft resets.

  • If you finished in Gold, you’ll probably start the next season in Silver, not all the way down in Bronze.

  • This makes it easier to climb back up, without dealing with low-rank chaos.

Final Blurb

Yes, losing games drops your rank — but not playing doesn’t (unless you’re super high-ranked). And don’t worry: your rewards are safe as long as you reached the rank at least once. So if you’re done with ranked for now, you can safely chill in Quick Play.
