Marvel Rivals Proficiency Guide: How It Works

Proficiency in Marvel Rivals is basically a leveling system for each hero. The more you play a hero, the more rewards you unlock—like skins, profile pictures, and those shiny bragging rights.

Here’s the simple version of how it works.

How Do You Level Up Proficiency?

To level up your proficiency with a specific character or hero, you need to earn proficiency points by completing four repeatable challenges in every match.

These are usually things like:

  • Time Played (Always +60 points per match)

  • Damage Done or Healing Done

  • KO/Assists

  • A special hero ability goal (like freezing enemies or using specific powers)

Every time you finish all of them, you get points added to your total proficiency bar, and then the challenges reset automatically—even in the middle of a match.

Do You Have to Play Only One Hero in a Match?

Yes—if you want all the points to go to that one hero.
If you switch heroes mid-match, you’ll start earning proficiency for the new hero, and the old one stops getting credit.

So, if you're trying to level up Storm—stay on Storm.

Why Do My Stats Keep Resetting?

  • They’re not broken—this is normal.

  • Once you hit the goal for one of the challenges, the game auto-claims the reward and resets the challenge to let you earn more points. This happens mid-match and can make it seem like your stats disappeared. They didn’t—you already got credit.

What’s With the Orange Numbers?

Those are the proficiency points (PP) you get for each challenge.

  • Example: +60 PP for time played, +50 PP for healing, +50 PP for KO/Assists.
You need to collect enough PP to level up to the next rank (like Captain or Lord).

  • Each rank needs more points, so yes, it’s a grind.

Final Blurb

Proficiency in Marvel Rivals is all about grinding points for your favorite hero. Play them, complete challenges, and watch your rewards roll in. Don’t freak out if stats “reset”—that means you’re making progress. Stay on one hero, rack up points, and enjoy the grind.
