GRAIN ROT: How to Heal and Restore Health
Taking damage in GRAIN ROT can become a bigger problem than the fight that caused it, especially when you still have several rooms or an exposed route between you and safety. There are two useful ways to restore health: resting at a Bed when you have access to one, or using Repair Glue when you need to heal without making it back to a safe resting point first.
The important distinction is that Chairs do not restore health. They are used for stamina recovery, so sitting down will not fix a damaged Vessel even though it looks like another resting mechanic.

How to Heal in GRAIN ROT
Health can be restored by using either a Bed or Repair Glue, but the better option depends on where you are when the damage happens. Beds give you a way to recover without spending a healing item, which makes them the better choice whenever one is already accessible, while Repair Glue matters much more once you are far enough into a route that returning to a Bed would put the run at risk or force you to give up too much progress.
This makes healing less about immediately using whatever recovery option you have and more about recognizing whether you are actually in danger yet. Taking some damage near a Bed is very different from reaching the middle of a dangerous route with low health and another difficult section still ahead, even though the health bar may look similar in both situations.
How to Heal With a Bed
Beds restore health and should generally be the first option you use when one is nearby. If you have already returned to an area with a usable Bed, there is little reason to spend Repair Glue on damage you can recover there instead, especially when that Glue could become much more important after you leave safety again.
Beds can also make longer routes easier to manage when you encounter one before the most dangerous part of the trip. Instead of treating every route as one continuous push, you can use the Bed to recover the health lost getting there and begin the next section with a much larger margin for mistakes.
This becomes particularly useful whenever your route naturally passes through a location with a Bed. Even if you technically have enough health to keep moving, recovering before another exposed or dangerous section can prevent several smaller hits from eventually turning into a failed run.
When to Use Repair Glue
Repair Glue is the healing option that matters when getting back to a Bed is no longer practical. If you are already deep into a route, have another dangerous section in front of you, or would lose too much progress by retreating just to heal, using Glue lets you restore health without abandoning the position you have already reached.
I would still avoid spending it automatically after every bit of damage. If you know there is a Bed only a short distance away and you can reach it safely, using the free recovery first preserves your Glue for situations where there is no convenient alternative.
The opposite is also true once the route starts getting dangerous. Saving Repair Glue forever does not help if you die carrying it, so when your health is already low and you know the next section is harder than the one you just survived, that is when the consumable starts becoming much more valuable.
A useful way to think about it is to save Repair Glue for the point where continuing without healing becomes the bigger risk than spending the item. Beds handle ordinary recovery whenever the route gives you access to one, while Glue lets you recover when the route does not.
Do Chairs Restore Health in GRAIN ROT?
Chairs do not heal your Vessel in GRAIN ROT. Sitting in a Chair restores stamina instead, which means it can help before another sprint or movement-heavy section but will not increase your health after taking damage.
This is easy to mix up because both Beds and Chairs are resting objects, but they solve completely different problems. If your health is low, look for a Bed or use Repair Glue. If your health is fine and your stamina is the resource holding you back, that is when a Chair becomes useful.
For healing specifically, the choice is therefore fairly simple: use a Bed whenever you can recover safely without spending anything, and keep Repair Glue available for the parts of a run where reaching a Bed is no longer realistic. Managing those two options separately keeps you from wasting your portable healing early and gives you a way to recover when the route starts getting much less forgiving.
