To turn off open mic in Hell Let Loose: Vietnam while using a controller, press the left bumper once during the match. Your name and the three white lines beside it will disappear from the bottom-left corner, confirming that your microphone is no longer broadcasting.
The controller voice control works as a toggle, so you do not need to keep the bumper held while talking. One press opens your mic and another press closes it, which makes it easy to leave yourself broadcasting without realizing it. PC uses normal hold-to-talk controls instead, so releasing the active voice-chat key will mute you automatically.

Look at the bottom-left corner of the screen while you are in a match. If your name is visible with three white lines next to it, press the left bumper once to toggle your microphone off. You only need to tap the button; holding it is unnecessary because the controller input switches voice transmission between active and muted.
Pressing the bumper again will reopen your microphone, so avoid repeatedly tapping it when you are trying to mute yourself. I would keep the mic closed until I am ready to make a callout, especially if there is background noise that would otherwise be sent through the entire voice channel.
How Can You Tell If Your Mic Is Muted?
Your name appearing in the bottom-left corner with three white lines means that your microphone is open. Once you press the left bumper and that indicator disappears, you are muted.
This visual indicator is the easiest way to check because the controller button uses the same input for both actions. If you are unsure whether your last press opened or closed the mic, check the corner of the screen instead of pressing the button again and potentially turning it back on.
How Does Push-to-Talk Work on PC?
PC voice chat only broadcasts while you are holding the key assigned to a particular radio channel. The default controls are V for Proximity chat, L for Unit chat, and K for Leadership chat. Release the key when you finish speaking and your microphone will stop transmitting to that channel.
If you are playing on PC with a controller, the controller toggle still applies, so press the left bumper again to close your microphone. Keyboard players do not normally need to disable an open mic afterward because releasing the voice-chat key already mutes it.
