Yes, you can respec in Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon... and no, it doesn’t cost you your soul. Just a rare potion or two.

To reset all your attribute and skill points, you’ll need an origin potion. These are scattered throughout the world, often hidden in places you wouldn’t check unless you’re the kind of person who opens every cabinet in a dungeon... which, let’s be honest, you probably are.

Here’s where to find them and how to use them.

Where to Find Origin Potions

Here are just a few locations that you can find these potions.

Island Asylum (Starting Area)

Your first respec potion is tucked away right under your nose.

After making your way toward the blood altar and laboratory, sneak through the crawlspace near the lab and drop into Brother Cassian’s cell.

From there, lockpick the cell directly across from his.

Inside is a glowing blue origin potion sitting on a table. This is your first shot at a full stat reset.

Sunken Village

Later in the game, you’ll visit the Sunken Village. Look for a fallen Keeper corpse during your time here.

Loot it, and you’ll find another origin potion ready to go.

Horns of the South (Fort Vendor)

Eventually, a doctor NPC in the Fort will offer to sell you one.

He won’t always have it in stock, so check back after major quest progress. Unlike some merchants, his inventory does rotate.

Harpist’s Tomb (Quest Chest Reward)

You can find one Origin Potion inside a chest during the Broken Strings quest.

It’s located in the day-locked section of the Harpist’s Tomb, near Aideen’s ghost encounter.

Be sure to loot the chest before leaving... it also contains the Starborn Egg relic.

Other Confirmed Sources

Players have reported finding up to 6 or 7 of these in Chapter I alone.

They can appear in high-level chests, as rare loot drops, or during late-stage quests. There’s no guaranteed vendor with infinite stock... but you won’t run out unless you’re respec-happy every few hours.

How to Use Origin Potions

Open your inventory, click the potion, and drink it.

That’s it. No confirmation screen, no second chances... it just refunds all your stats and skills right away.

So, make sure you know what build you want to try before gulping it down.

Should You Save or Use Them?

It’s safe to use them. You’ll get more.

Most players report finding between five and seven total in a full run. That’s enough to experiment, fix mistakes, and still have a backup.

If you’re trying a new weapon class, spell school, or armor setup, don’t hesitate to use one.

Just don’t chug them like healing potions or you’ll be back to sword-and-shame build real quick.

Final Blurb & FAQ

Origin potions are the perfect “undo” button for when your character build goes sideways. As long as you loot carefully and explore deeply, you’ll end up with more than enough to play around with different styles.

Just be sure to pick them up before the NPCs do... because they definitely won’t respec into something smarter.

FAQ

Q: Can I reset my skills multiple times?

Yes, if you have multiple origin potions. There are over 5 that we know of in the game.

Q: Do vendors restock origin potions?

No, most do not. The doctor in the fort may sell one, but it’s a one-time purchase.

Q: Can I use the potion at any time?

Yes, as long as it’s in your inventory. Just use it like a normal consumable.

Q: Is there a cooldown or cost to respec?

No cooldown, no cost... just the potion itself.

Q: Are respecs permanent? Can I undo a respec?

Once used, a potion is gone. You’ll need another one to change again. Save first if you’re unsure.
