The Broken Strings quest takes you into the Harpist’s Tomb, where two ghost sisters are still working through some major sibling drama. To finish it, you’ll need to enter the tomb twice at different times, listen to each sister’s story, and finally put them both to rest.

It’s a short quest with a solid relic, some tragic backstory, and a surprising amount of emotional damage.

Enter the Harpist’s Tomb

You’ll find the entrance near the Drowned Village.

Once inside, you’ll see two sealed paths. These are time-locked, so you can only go into one based on the current time of day.

  • The yellow path on the left opens during 4:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

  • The blue path on the right opens from 10:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m.

You’ll need to go through both to finish the quest.

Explore the Day Side (Yellow Path)

Start with the yellow path during the day.

You’ll meet Aideen, a ghost who used to be a court performer. She’s bitter, confused, and very dramatic... but her story is worth hearing.

She talks about fame, a court romance, and how things spiraled when her sister Aine got involved. You’ll also learn how a rock may have accidentally helped with the murder.

Before leaving, loot the nearby chest. It holds an Origin Potion and the Starborn Egg, which is a relic worth keeping.

After the conversation ends, rest at a bonfire until nighttime.

Explore the Night Side (Blue Path)

When it’s after 10:00 p.m., head back into the tomb and take the blue path.

This time, you meet Aine, Aideen’s sister. She’s haunted by guilt and gives her side of the story.

There’s talk of betrayal, a sabotaged harp, and how things went way too far. She’s filled with regret but wants peace... if that’s even possible.

Once the dialogue ends, you’ll have both sisters’ remains and their stories will connect.

Bury the Sisters

Now that both spirits have spoken, leave the tomb and go northeast to a special tree near the village.

Before you can bury the remains, a bounty enemy named Sir Vaelin will show up. Defeat him first.

Once he’s down, bury the sisters together beneath the tree.

This completes the Broken Strings quest and gives the sisters some long overdue rest.

Final Blurb & FAQ

The Harpist’s Tomb is one of the more emotional quests in Tainted Grail. You don’t get a ton of combat, but the story makes up for it.

The relic reward is solid, the writing is strong, and the payoff is satisfying if you like ghost stories with a little guilt and harp sabotage sprinkled in.
