So, you’ve stolen a horse. Good for you. But now you actually want to keep it instead of just making a quick buck? Luckily, you can claim a stolen horse as your own—if you know where to go and how to do it without getting caught.

Here’s how to turn your stolen ride into your permanent travel companion and keep a stolen horse.

Step 1: Steal a Horse (Obviously)

  • You can find horses at stables, inns, and random pastures across the map.

  • The best spot early on is just south of Troskowitz, near the carpenter’s area—lots of unattended horses just waiting for a new owner (you).

  • Check the stats before stealing—better horses sell for more and perform better.

Step 2: Get to the Nomad’s Camp

  • You need to bring the stolen horse to Horse Handler Mikolai, who deals in questionable equine transactions.

  • The Nomad’s Camp is located to the west, and once you’ve been there, you can fast travel back anytime.

  • Be careful! The northern road leading there is full of ambushes. The game knows you’re up to no good.

Step 3: Talk to Mikolai (During the Day)

  • Mikolai is the guy with the green hat—you’ll find him near the stables in the camp.

  • If he refuses to talk, you might need to complete a quest for his family first (yes, even criminals have family obligations).

  • Make sure it’s daytime—Mikolai doesn’t do shady business at night.

Step 4: Choose to Keep the Horse

  • When speaking to Mikolai, you’ll get two options:

    • Sell the horse for cash.

    • Claim the horse as your own.

  • Important: You can only own one horse at a time, so if you keep the stolen horse, your current horse is gone forever.

  • All inventory items from your old horse will transfer to the new one, so at least you won’t lose your saddlebags full of loot.

Final Blurb

  • You can only do this once every 24-48 in-game hours, so don’t expect to start a full-time horse dealership.

  • If you sell a horse, you can’t get it back, so make sure you really want to part ways with your current one.

  • Pebbles (Henry’s first horse) is gone forever if replaced, so if you’re attached to that slow, mediocre horse, think twice before swapping.

Now, ride off into the sunset with your newly "acquired" horse—just don’t get caught, and don’t leave it unattended too long, or it’ll run back home.
