Parrying is an essential skill for defending yourself and opening up opportunities for counter-attacks in Avowed. Here's a simple guide to help you learn how to parry like a boss:
Unlocking Parry
Go to the Ranger Ability Tree: Parry is unlocked from the Ranger skill tree. It's the third ability on the top row.
Level Up and Spend Ability Points: Once you have leveled up, spend one of your ability points to unlock Parry.
How to Parry Attacks
Look for the Enemy's Indicator:
If the enemy has a yellow circle or no indicator, they can be parried.
If the enemy's attack animation has them glowing red, their attack cannot be blocked or parried.
Timing Your Parry:
Wait until the enemy lunges forward with their attack.
Press LT (on console) or RMB (on PC) at the right moment to block the incoming attack.
The parry window is generous, so don’t worry about perfect timing—just press it when the enemy attacks.
Stun and Counter:
Successfully parrying will stun the enemy, giving you time to land a few hits.
Filling the yellow ‘Stun’ bar allows you to perform special attacks for critical damage.
Upgrading Parry
Parry Rank 2: Increases parry efficiency by 25% and deals greater Stun when parrying enemies.
Parry Rank 3: Increases parry efficiency by 50% and deals even greater Stun.
Arrow Deflection: Unlocks after reaching level 10, allowing you to deflect arrows and projectiles while parrying.
Parrying Tips
Level up your Parry ability to increase your efficiency and stun potential.
Use Arrow Deflection once unlocked to block ranged attacks while focusing on melee combat.
Parrying is key for defensive combat, especially if you prefer close-range fighting. Mastering it will help you deal with enemies as if they were little ants.
