Can Companions Die in Avowed?

RPG

No, your companions in Avowed cannot die permanently, but they can be knocked out during combat. If this happens, they will stay down until either:

  1. You revive them using a special ability.

  2. They get back up after the fight ends (if you manage to survive without them).

Why Do Companions Go Down So Often?

  • They don’t heal themselves unless you actively heal them.

  • They take too much damage, especially if under-leveled or poorly equipped.

  • They aren’t great at dodging attacks, meaning they get hit—a lot.

How to Keep Companions Alive

  • Use healing abilities – You unlock an AoE heal fairly early in the game.

  • Upgrade their gear – Weak armor means they drop fast.

  • Play smart – Keep fights short and avoid overwhelming numbers.

  • Positioning matters – Don’t let them charge into death traps.

Final Blurb

Companions in Avowed are more for utility than raw damage. Expect them to help with stuns, roots, or aggro rather than carrying fights. If they keep going down, focus on better gear, faster fights, and healing when needed—or just accept that you’ll be doing most of the work yourself.
