Salvaging in Path of Exile 2 (PoE2) lets you break down unwanted items to gain useful materials for crafting and strenghtening your gear. Here's how to unlock and use the Salvage Bench:
1. Unlock the Salvage Bench
Complete the "Finding the Forge" Quest: In Act 1, after finishing the "Secrets in the Dark" quest, talk to Renly at the base camp. He'll give you the "Finding the Forge" quest, asking you to retrieve his tools from Ogham Village.
Locate Renly's Workshop: As you progress through the main storyline, you'll reach Ogham Village. Search for a group of houses with a narrow path between them; Renly's Workshop is there. Enter, defeat any enemies, and collect Renly's tools from the table.
Return to Renly: Use a town portal to go back to the base camp and give the tools to Renly. Completing this quest unlocks the Salvage Bench.
2. Use the Salvage Bench
Access the Bench: After unlocking, find the Salvage Bench in the upper corner of the base camp.
Salvage Items: Interact with the bench, click the hammer icon, then select the items from your inventory you want to salvage. This process destroys the items and gives you materials like Blacksmith's Whetstones and Armorer's Scraps, which improve the quality of your weapons and armor.
3. Decide: Salvage or Sell?
Salvaging: Yields crafting materials useful for bettering gear.
Selling: Provides gold, which can be used to buy items from vendors.
