How to Summon Your Mount in Elder Scrolls Online (ESO)—Simple Mount Guide
Using a mount in The Elder Scrolls Online (ESO) makes getting around significantly easier. Here we’ll walk you through how to summon your mount on each platform along with some basic tips.
Step 1: Obtain a Mount
Start with a Mount:
New players receive a basic horse after hitting level 10.
Buy a Mount:
Visit a Stablemaster in any major city (look for a horse icon on your map).
Purchase a mount using gold. Prices typically start at 10,000 gold.
Crown Store:
You can buy mounts with Crowns (real-money currency) in the in-game Crown Store. These often include unique or cosmetic mounts.
Step 2: Set Your Active Mount
Open Collections Menu:
Press U (PC), Options (PS4/PS5), or Menu (Xbox) to open the main menu.
Navigate to the Collections tab.
Select Mounts:
Within Collections, select Mounts from the left-hand menu.
Choose Your Mount:
Highlight the mount you want to use and press E (PC) or the corresponding button to set it as active.
Step 3: Summon Your Mount
Default Keybinds:
PC: Press H to summon or dismount.
PlayStation: Press and hold Touchpad.
Xbox: Press and hold View Button (two overlapping rectangles).
Instant Summon:
Your mount will appear instantly, and you can ride it in most outdoor areas.
Step 4: Dismounting
Use the same button or key to dismount (e.g., H, Touchpad, or View Button).
Engaging in combat or entering some restricted areas will automatically dismount you.
Step 5: Upgrading Your Mount
Visit a Stablemaster:
You can upgrade your mount's speed, stamina, and carrying capacity at any Stablemaster.
Training:
Each upgrade costs gold and takes 20 hours in real-time to complete (1 upgrade per day).
Prioritize speed to travel faster, stamina to avoid being knocked off, or capacity to increase your inventory.
Tips for Using Mounts in ESO
Mount Anywhere: Mounts can be used in most outdoor areas, but they cannot be summoned indoors or in combat.
Stamina Matters: If attacked while riding, you’ll need enough stamina to avoid being knocked off.
Customization: Certain mounts have unique appearances, and some DLC or expansions offer exclusive mounts with special designs.
