How to Use Thrusters in Void Crew

In Void Crew, knowing how to use thrusters is key to controlling your ship during exploration and combat. Thrusters help with movement, dodging enemy fire, and boosting speed. In this guide, you’ll learn everything about thrusters—how to activate them, maintain them, and use them effectively.

What Are Thrusters?

Thrusters are the propulsion system of your ship. They control:

  • Basic Movement: Forward, backward, and directional control.

  • Boosts: Temporary bursts of speed to quickly dodge or reposition.

  • Combat Maneuvering: Quick moves to avoid enemy fire or bombs.

How to Activate Thrusters

Step 1: Power Up Thrusters

To use thrusters they need to be powered up:

  1. Head to the Engine Room on your ship.

  2. Look for the Thruster Boosters Panel.

  3. Activate the thruster system.

Step 2: Engage Thruster Boosts

  1. Once powered, go to the Helm where the pilot controls are.

  2. Engage the thruster boost by activating the assigned button (shift on keyboard or press left thumbstick on controller)

  3. Use the boost when needed for dodging attacks or quick movement.

Note: Boosts only last a short time and need to recharge after each use. Pay attention to their charge level so thatyou don’t run out during critical moments.

Keeping Thrusters in Good Shape

Over time your ship’s engine may lose calibration which can lower thruster performance. To keep them running smoothly you’ll need to reset engine trim points.

  1. Go to the Engine Room and check the Engine Trim Display Panel.

  2. If trim points are out of balance, they’ll light up in yellow.

  3. Approach the highlighted trim points and interact to reset them.

Resetting trim points restores your thruster’s power and ensures the ship moves at full speed.

When to Use Thrusters

1. Dodging Enemy Fire

During combat, thruster boosts are perfect for avoiding enemy attacks:

  • Use them to quickly sidestep lasers or missiles.

  • Combine boosts with directional movement (up, down, or sideways) to make your ship harder to hit.

2. Evading Bombers

If an enemy bomber is targeting you:

  • Use the thruster boost to fly straight toward the bomber.

  • Just before reaching the bomb, dodge upward or spin your ship to avoid the blast. This tactic minimizes damage and keeps you in control.

3. Quick Positioning

Thruster boosts let you quickly reposition in a fight:

  • Escape dangerous zones.

  • Close in on objectives or enemies.

Thruster Tips

Want to make your thrusters even better? Here’s how:

  1. Upgrade with Skills:

    • Spend skill points on the Pilot Talent Tree to unlock upgrades like “Engine Efficiency.”

    • This improves how long your boosts last and makes them recharge faster.

  2. Install Auxiliary Thrusters:

    • Equip your ship with auxiliary thrusters to extend your boost duration by 50%.

    • This means longer boosts for more effective dodging and maneuvering.

Mastering thrusters can take some practice but the effort pays off. Use them wisely to dodge enemy fire, position your ship, and handle emergencies. Don’t forget to maintain your engine and use your boosts at times when it makes sense.
