Loftia Bioluminescent Ivy: Locations, Farming & Uses

Bioluminescent Ivy is one of the more useful rare materials in Loftia, appearing in several quests, research requirements, and crafting recipes. You'll need an upgraded gathering tool to collect it, and some items require far more Ivy than others. Knowing which areas to search and how much to keep can save you several gathering trips.

Where to Get Bioluminescent Ivy in Loftia

To get Bioluminescent Ivy in Loftia, travel to the Hanging Gardens and harvest Bioluminescent Ivy gathering spots using Pruners Lv.2. The resource can be found around Overgrowth, Secret Lake, the caves, and Bamboo Forest.

Follow these steps:

  1. Obtain Pruners Lv.2, which are required to harvest Bioluminescent Ivy.
  2. Travel to the Hanging Gardens district.
  3. Search Overgrowth, Secret Lake, the caves, or Bamboo Forest for Bioluminescent Ivy gathering spots.
  4. Harvest the plants using your upgraded Pruners.
  5. Continue checking other gathering spots until you've collected enough.

Each harvesting spot produces either 1 Bioluminescent Ivy (75% chance) or 2 Bioluminescent Ivy (25% chance).

If you've located the plant but can't harvest it, make sure you're using Pruners Lv.2 rather than the basic version.

Bioluminescent Ivy Gathering Locations

The Hanging Gardens contains 12 marked Bioluminescent Ivy gathering spots across several areas.

Hanging Gardens Area Resource
OvergrowthBioluminescent Ivy gathering spots
Secret LakeBioluminescent Ivy gathering spots
CavesBioluminescent Ivy gathering spots
Bamboo ForestBioluminescent Ivy gathering spots

Bioluminescent Ivy gathering spots have a listed respawn time of 300 seconds, or five minutes.

Rather than standing beside a harvested plant, use that time to check the other locations throughout the district.

Best Way to Farm Bioluminescent Ivy in Loftia

The most efficient way to farm Bioluminescent Ivy is to gather from multiple available nodes before returning to previously harvested locations.

With 12 marked spots and a chance of receiving two Ivy per harvest, a complete collection pass can produce between 12 and 24 Ivy if every spot is available.

Based on the listed drop probabilities, the average yield works out to approximately 15 Ivy per complete pass.

How Many Gathering Spots Do You Need?

Because every harvest provides at least one Ivy, you can plan around minimum yields rather than depending on lucky drops.

Ivy Needed Gathering Plan
3 IvyAt most 3 successful harvests
5 IvyAt most 5 successful harvests
10 IvyAt most 10 successful harvests
50 IvyRoughly 4 full passes on average, depending on drops

These estimates assume the nodes are available when you reach them.

If you're gathering for a quest requiring only a few plants, there's no need to complete an entire collection pass. However, larger clothing recipes make repeated visits much more worthwhile.

Collect Ivy for Multiple Recipes at Once

One of the biggest mistakes is gathering just enough Ivy for a crafting recipe and forgetting that another quest needs the same resource.

For example, producing one Silk and one Lignin requires 10 Bioluminescent Ivy altogether.

If you also need 10 Ivy for Rooting for Survival, your combined requirement becomes 20.

Planning around the total amount needed across several activities is more efficient than returning to the Hanging Gardens every time a new recipe becomes available.

What Is Bioluminescent Ivy Used for in Loftia?

Bioluminescent Ivy is used for refining materials, cooking, crafting clothing and furniture, completing quests, and contributing to research.

Silk and Lignin Recipes

Both Silk and Lignin require Bioluminescent Ivy at Refining Station Lv.2.

Material Ingredients Processing Time
Silk5 Bioluminescent Ivy30 seconds
Lignin5 Bioluminescent Ivy30 seconds

Since both recipes consume the same number of plants, keep your Ivy unrefined until you know which material you need.

Bioluminescent Ivy Soup

Bioluminescent Ivy Soup is crafted at Cooking Station Lv.2 using 1 Bioluminescent Ivy and 1 Onion.

This is a relatively small use of the resource compared with refining or expensive clothing recipes.

Clothing and Decorations

Bioluminescent Ivy also appears in recipes for the Enchanted Tulip Hat, Fairy House, Coastal decorations, and several Woodlands lamps.

Two particularly resource-intensive clothing items are:

  • Mermaid Dress: 50 Bioluminescent Ivy
  • Rainbow Gumboots: 50 Bioluminescent Ivy

Crafting both requires 100 Ivy, making these longer-term gathering goals rather than items you'll necessarily finish during a single visit.

Loftia Quests That Require Bioluminescent Ivy

Several quests require Bioluminescent Ivy, including main story objectives and a side quest involving Hazel.

Quest or Research Requirement
The Art of Letting Go3 Ivy
Rooting for Survival10 Ivy
Ivy InvestigationObjectives listing 1 and 3 Ivy
Elemental Earth Research Bundle3 Ivy

The Elemental Earth bundle is located at the Overgrowth Research Station.

If you're progressing through several quests at once, consider keeping a reserve of Ivy before using it on optional decorations.

Bioluminescent Ivy Gathering Tips

Prioritize Quest Materials Before Expensive Clothing

Since the Mermaid Dress and Rainbow Gumboots each consume 50 Ivy, crafting them can significantly reduce your supply.

I'd prioritize whatever is needed for your current quests and research before committing to these larger cosmetic recipes.

Use Other Gathering Spots During Respawn Downtime

With a five-minute listed respawn time, moving between different parts of the Hanging Gardens can be more productive than repeatedly checking a single harvested node.

The 12 marked gathering locations provide enough opportunities to collect meaningful quantities during a single visit, assuming they're available.

Keep Some Bioluminescent Ivy Unrefined

Silk and Lignin both use five Ivy, but quests, cooking, and decorations require the original resource.

Refining your entire supply can leave you without the raw plants needed for another objective.

Keeping a small reserve is especially useful when you're working through several parts of Loftia at the same time.
