Mistfall Hunter Region Lock Explained
Mistfall Hunter supports online parties and cross-platform play, but players can still find themselves unable to join friends after reaching the Hub. In many cases, the problem is not the platform, party settings, or an incorrect invitation. It is the game’s regional matchmaking restriction.
Players assigned to different server regions currently cannot form a party together. That means someone playing in North America may be unable to join a friend assigned to Europe, even when both players own the same version of the game and can see each other online. The developers have acknowledged the problem and are working on an alternative solution, although region unlocking is not available yet.

How Region Lock Works in Mistfall Hunter
Mistfall Hunter separates players across regional server environments. When two players belong to different regions, the game does not currently allow them to enter the same party or queue together.
This restriction applies before matchmaking begins. It is not simply a system that places the party on whichever server gives the host the best connection. The party itself cannot be formed across the regional boundary.
Region lock therefore affects more than the opponents you encounter. It can prevent established friend groups from playing together, particularly when members live in different parts of the world or when the game assigns someone to an unexpected region.
There is no normal in-game server browser that lets the party leader move everyone to North America, Europe, or another preferred location. Players are expected to use the region available to their accounts unless support intervenes or the developers change the system.
Can North American and European Players Play Together?
North American and European players cannot currently form a cross-region party. If one player is assigned to the North American environment and the other is assigned to Europe, invitations will not allow them to bypass that separation.
The same underlying problem can affect friends divided between other server regions. Mistfall Hunter does not currently offer a casual cross-region option where players voluntarily accept higher latency in exchange for playing together.
This has created particular frustration among players who are comfortable accepting a weaker connection for casual expeditions. The current system makes the decision for the group rather than allowing the party leader to select a server and accept the resulting ping.
Ranked integrity and latency are common reasons for regional restrictions in competitive games, but Bellring Games has not provided a detailed public explanation of the exact technical or competitive reasoning behind Mistfall Hunter’s implementation.
Region Lock Is Different From Crossplay
Region lock and crossplay control two separate parts of multiplayer access. Crossplay determines whether players on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox can enter the same matches. Region lock determines whether players assigned to different geographical server environments can join one another.
This means crossplay can be enabled while a particular group is still unable to play together. A PC player and a console player in the same supported region may be able to form a party, while two PC players assigned to North America and Europe may remain separated.
When troubleshooting an invitation problem, check the players’ regions before assuming crossplay has failed. Changing crossplay settings will not solve a regional matchmaking restriction.
Cross-platform progression is another separate issue. The ability to play with someone on another platform does not necessarily mean that character data and progression automatically transfer between platforms.
Which Server Regions Are Available?
Bellring Games has identified battlefield server locations in five countries:
China
United States
Germany
Singapore
Brazil
These locations provide infrastructure for the game’s broader regional groups. Germany serves the European environment, while the United States handles the main North American location. Singapore and China cover separate parts of Asia, and Brazil provides the South American location.
The presence of a nearby server does not guarantee that every player will be assigned exactly where expected. Some players have reported being placed in a region that does not match their current location or provides worse latency than another available server.
Because the exact assignment rules have not been fully documented, it is difficult to predict how every account will be categorized solely from physical location, IP address, platform account, or storefront country.
Can You Change Your Region?
Mistfall Hunter does not currently provide a normal in-game option for freely changing regions. There is no public server-selection menu that lets players move between North America and Europe whenever they want to join a different group.
The developers have directed affected players to the official Mistfall Hunter Discord, where they can open a support ticket and request individual help. This appears to be the intended route for accounts placed in the wrong region or groups affected by unusual assignment problems.
A support ticket is not a guaranteed cross-region workaround. Support may be able to investigate an incorrect assignment, but that is different from allowing every player to switch servers freely.
Using a VPN is also not a dependable solution. Even if it changes the apparent connection location, it may not change the region already associated with the account. It can also increase latency, create unstable routing, or cause other account and connection problems.
Changing a platform storefront country should not be treated as a casual server-selection method either. Store regions can affect prices, payment methods, and account rules, and there is no confirmation that changing one will safely move an existing Mistfall Hunter character.
What to Do if You Were Assigned to the Wrong Region
First, confirm that the problem is actually regional. Check whether the affected friends can join other players located in their own region and whether everyone is using compatible game versions.
If one account appears to be assigned incorrectly, collect the basic details before contacting support. Include your actual country, the region the game appears to be using, your platform, and the region used by the friends you are trying to join.
Open a ticket through the official Discord and explain that the account may have been assigned to the wrong regional environment. A clear report is more useful than describing the issue only as a broken party invitation.
There is no confirmed universal fix that players can perform from the Hub. Reinstalling the game, verifying files, changing party leadership, or repeatedly sending invitations will not normally remove a server-side regional restriction.
Why Does Mistfall Hunter Have Region Lock?
The developers have not published a complete technical explanation, but latency is the most likely practical concern. Mistfall Hunter uses action combat built around dodges, parries, projectiles, crowd control, and attacks with committed recovery animations. A large connection delay can affect whether those interactions appear fair to both players.
The extraction format raises the stakes further. Losing a fight can also mean losing equipment and loot, so desynchronization or delayed hit registration is more frustrating than it would be in a low-stakes cooperative game.
That explains why regional separation can benefit match quality, but it does not explain why players cannot voluntarily accept higher latency in an unranked or casual party. A host-selected server would allow international friends to play together while making the connection tradeoff clear.
The strongest long-term solution may therefore be a system that preserves regional matchmaking by default but permits premade groups to select a shared server. Bellring Games has not confirmed that this will be the final approach.
Will Mistfall Hunter Remove Region Lock?
Bellring Games has acknowledged requests for region unlocking and stated that the team is working on a solution. That is the clearest indication that the current restriction may change.
There is no announced launch date for cross-region parties, and the developers have not explained whether the eventual solution will remove the lock completely, add manual server selection, or introduce exceptions for premade groups.
Until an update is released, players should assume that cross-region parties remain unavailable. Avoid purchasing additional copies for an international group based only on the expectation that region unlocking will arrive immediately.
Official patch notes and developer announcements will be the most reliable sources for any change. A support representative helping one incorrectly assigned account would not necessarily mean that open cross-region matchmaking has been released for everyone.
Options While Cross-Region Play Is Unavailable
Friend groups in the same region can continue forming normal parties, including supported cross-platform groups. International groups will need to wait for a region-unlocking update unless support determines that one member was assigned incorrectly.
Players separated from their usual group can still use matchmaking within their available region or enter supported content alone. Solo mode remains online PvPvE and has its own map restrictions, so it is not a complete replacement for playing with friends.
Our Mistfall Hunter solo mode guide explains how solo expeditions work, what content supports them, and why playing alone does not create a private PvE session.
For now, the most important distinction is straightforward: Mistfall Hunter supports crossplay, but it does not yet support unrestricted cross-region parties. North American and European friends cannot simply choose the same server, and players assigned incorrectly must contact support rather than changing the region through the game itself.
