Mistfall Hunter: How Many Players Are in a Match?

Mistfall Hunter can place as many as 15 players in one match, but your own party is limited to three Gyldhunters. That means an expedition contains several competing players or squads rather than one team fighting through an otherwise private map.

The 15-player figure is the maximum supported lobby size, not a promise that every expedition will contain exactly 15 people. The final count can vary with the selected mode, map, region, matchmaking population, and how many solo players or incomplete parties enter the queue.

What Is the Mistfall Hunter Match Player Count?

A Mistfall Hunter match supports up to 15 online players. Everyone enters the same PvPvE expedition, searches for equipment and resources, fights monsters, completes objectives, and attempts to extract before the match ends.

Your own character or party counts toward that total. A full three-player squad entering a 15-player match could therefore have as many as 12 other players somewhere on the map.

Those players are not constantly visible, and they do not all spawn in the same location. A match can feel quiet at the beginning before several groups converge on a boss, quest objective, valuable landmark, or active extraction point.

The listed cap should be treated as a maximum. Matchmaking may launch an expedition with fewer players rather than filling every available position, especially during quieter hours or within a less populated regional server.

What Is the Maximum Party Size?

Mistfall Hunter parties are capped at three players. You can enter alone, bring one friend as a two-player group, or deploy with a complete trio.

A party of three is the largest team you can create. There is no four-player squad option, even though the overall match contains considerably more than three people.

The distinction between match size and squad size is important:

Maximum players in the expedition — 15.
Maximum players cooperating in one party — 3.
Maximum other players facing a full trio in a filled lobby — 12.

The remaining players may be divided among other full trios, incomplete parties, or solo participants depending on the matchmaking mode and current queue.

How Many Teams Can Be in One Match?

If all 15 players entered as complete three-person squads, the match could contain five trios. That is the simplest way to visualize the maximum player count, but actual team composition does not always divide so neatly.

Some groups enter with only two players after disabling party fill. Supported maps also have solo matchmaking, meaning the total number of separate opponents or teams can vary even when the number of players remains similar.

A match containing smaller groups could therefore have more individual teams than a lobby made entirely of trios. The game does not provide a complete list showing every party that entered, so you cannot assume that defeating one or two groups has cleared the map.

This is particularly important around major objectives. A boss or quest area may attract several independent parties, while another section of the map remains almost empty.

Is There a Duo Mode in Mistfall Hunter?

You can play with one friend, but Mistfall Hunter does not currently have a dedicated duo matchmaking queue.

To deploy as a duo, invite one other player and leave party fill disabled before starting the expedition. Your group remains at two instead of receiving a random third teammate.

The tradeoff is that the duo still enters the broader trio environment. You can encounter complete three-player squads and will not be protected by matchmaking that only places two-player teams against each other.

Bellring Games has said that a separate duo queue is not planned in the short term because another queue would divide the matchmaking population and create additional balancing problems.

A duo can still be effective when both players coordinate their classes, movement, and extractions. The disadvantage becomes most noticeable during direct fights in which the enemy has a third player available to flank, revive, or maintain pressure.

How Many Players Are in Solo Mode?

Solo mode means you deploy without teammates. It does not turn the expedition into a private PvE instance, and other players can still be present in the match.

The exact number of opponents in an individual solo expedition is not displayed before deployment. The game’s overall online player cap is 15, but the available queue and final lobby population can differ by map and matchmaking conditions.

Hallowgrove supports solo access, while Brandrgarde does not have a permanent solo matchmaking option at launch. The developers have discussed opening Brandrgarde solo for limited periods during a season.

Solo players cannot be revived by a teammate and must manage every fight, objective, and extraction alone. In exchange, solo matchmaking avoids deliberately entering the trio environment as an undersized party.

Our Mistfall Hunter solo mode guide explains which content supports solo play and how it differs from an offline or PvE-only mode.

Why Do Some Matches Feel Empty or Overcrowded?

The 15-player maximum does not mean those players are evenly distributed across the map. Spawn locations, objectives, loot routes, and extraction choices determine how often groups cross paths.

A quiet expedition can suddenly become crowded when several parties move toward the same red boss icon, quest target, high-value area, or Returner Woodling. Conversely, a player following the outer edge of the map may complete most of a run without seeing another Gyldhunter.

The selected region also affects matchmaking. Players assigned to separate regional environments cannot necessarily join the same party, even when they are using compatible platforms.

Our Mistfall Hunter region lock guide covers how regional restrictions affect parties and why friends in different server environments may be unable to play together.

Time of day and queue population may also influence whether matchmaking reaches the listed cap. A maximum lobby size describes what the game supports, not the exact number guaranteed in every run.

Why Full Trios Have an Advantage

A full trio does more than add another damage dealer. Three players can cover different angles, divide enemy attention, carry more healing and utility, and revive one another after a knockdown.

Several skills also have trio-specific behavior, including shorter cooldowns, more durable constructs, additional support uses, or improved defensive efficiency. The exact benefit depends on the selected class and skill.

This does not make solo or duo play impossible, but it means an incomplete party should avoid taking every direct fight against a coordinated trio. Positioning, ambushes, disengagements, and choosing when to extract become more important when outnumbered.

A duo should generally avoid splitting too far apart because losing one player turns the remaining fight into a one-versus-three situation. Solo players benefit from gathering information before entering a landmark rather than committing without knowing how many enemies are nearby.

Can You Fill the Third Party Slot With a Random Player?

Yes. A solo player or two-person party can use party fill to search for additional teammates before entering the trio queue.

This is useful when you want the protection and clearing speed of a full team but do not have two friends available. The drawback is that the matched player may have different objectives, equipment, or ideas about when to fight and extract.

Turn fill off when you deliberately want to remain alone or play only with one invited friend. Leave it enabled when completing the party matters more than controlling exactly who receives the final slot.

Mistfall Hunter Match Size Explained

Mistfall Hunter supports up to 15 players in one online match. Your own party can contain no more than three Gyldhunters, so a completely filled lobby could theoretically contain five full trios.

Solo and two-player groups are also possible, although a duo does not receive its own protected queue and may encounter full trios. Solo availability can depend on the selected map, and every solo run remains part of the game’s online PvPvE structure.

The most useful numbers to remember are 15 players per match and three players per squad. Everything beyond that depends on how the lobby is populated and where those players move once the expedition begins.
