OSRS Troubled Tortugans Quest Guide & Walkthrough
Old School RuneScape (OSRS)

This quest pulls you into the Tortugan islands for the first time. You help Floopa recover, repair the village, and take down two gryphons standing in the way of the Great Conch.

What You’ll Need

You need solid mid level stats before starting:

  • Crafting 34

  • Woodcutting 40

  • Slayer 51

  • Construction 48

  • Sailing 45

  • Hunter 45

You must also have Pandemonium completed.

You will need an axe, hammer, and saw. All three can be found during the quest, but bringing your own saves time. Food and combat supplies help a lot during the gryphon fights. Stamina potions make the travel between steps smoother. A combat level around 60 or higher is recommended.

Starting The Quest

Sail to the remote island west of the Great Conch. Floopa is injured on the beach. She pushes you away at first, but she needs help to survive. Collect a palm leaf by shaking a palm tree and pick up nearby seaweed. Combine them to make bandages and treat her wound. She introduces herself and explains she is from the Great Conch.

Reaching The Great Conch

Escort her to the pier and head southeast toward the Great Conch. Elder Korel meets her at the dock and sends her to Elder Raley for care. Korel tells you that humans are not usually welcome, but he allows you to stay as a temporary visitor until Floopa recovers.

Repairing The Village

Raley explains that a gryphon recently attacked and damaged parts of the village. You offer to help repair everything. You need ten jatoba logs, six sea shells, and six tortugan scutes. Jatoba trees are west of the village, shells are by the shore, and scutes are scattered around the area.

Use a hammer, saw, and axe to repair stalls, walls, and crates across the village. When everything is fixed, return to Raley.

Tracking The First Gryphon

The gryphon that attacked is still somewhere on the island. Start at the statue in the center of the village and follow the trail of disturbed items. These lead to a cave blocked by thick growth. Chop through it and enter. A level 95 gryphon attacks. It uses melee and can knock you back if your worn weight is too low. Defeat it and return to Raley.

The Attack On The Little Pearl

Another gryphon has attacked the Little Pearl, where the Tortugans protect their eggs. Prepare for a harder fight. Speak to Elder Blunn to receive a tortugan shield. You must equip this shield during the battle to avoid heavy damage. Sail southeast to the Little Pearl.

When you arrive, a Shellbane gryphon is fighting the elders. Use Protect from Melee and keep food ready. The gryphon uses melee and ranged attacks and also three special moves. A slam that knocks you back if you are too light, whirlwinds that spawn under you, and acidic spit that causes a bleed. Survive the attacks, stay mobile, and keep the tortugan shield equipped. Make sure you do not equip the blurb weapon or you’ll be one-shot.

Defeat the Shellbane gryphon and speak to Korel after the fight.

Finishing The Quest

Korel wonders why the gryphons are traveling farther than usual. You mention the strange red sailed ship you saw fleeing the area. Return to Raley and Floopa. She begins remembering the crew that betrayed her and pushed her overboard. The story ends on a cliffhanger, opening the way for the next quest in the series.

Final Blurb

Troubled Tortugans delivers a big mid level jump for Sailing and unlocks the Great Conch as a major new area. The repairs, tracking, and double gryphon battle make this quest busy, but the reward and new access are more than worth the effort.
