R.E.P.O. Energy Crystals Explained and What They Do

We all need a little extra fuel to keep going—especially when that fuel costs a small fortune and might not even be in stock. So, are Energy Crystals in R.E.P.O. actually worth it, or are they just another overpriced gimmick?

Here’s a simple guide to understanding Energy Crystals and what they do in R.E.P.O.

Where to Get Energy Crystals (AKA Yellow Crystals) in R.E.P.O.

  • You’ll find Energy Crystals at the Service Station, R.E.P.O.'s one-stop shop for expensive survival gear.

  • The station appears between levels, but items are random, so don’t expect to grab one every time.

  • Price ranges from $7K to $9K, which is a lot of cash for something that doesn’t even explode.

  • Best strategy? Overachieve in Level 1 while the game is still nice to you. More cash early means less stress later.

What Energy Crystals Actually Do

  • These don’t go in your pocket—instead, they’re slotted into the Energy Container inside the R.E.P.O. truck.

  • The Energy Container doesn’t exist at first, but once you buy a crystal, it magically appears like it was always meant to be there.

  • Each crystal adds 33% charge, meaning you’ll need six to max it out.

  • Purpose? To recharge your electrical tools (like the Valuables Tracker), so you don’t have to keep buying replacements.

  • The price tag means a full charge costs between $42K and $54K—so maybe split the bill with some friends.

Are Energy Crystals Worth It?

  • If you’re playing solo: Maybe not the best investment, considering dying deletes your save file (ouch).

  • If you’re in a group: Probably a good long-term purchase, since running out of charge mid-run is a nightmare.

  • If you like hoarding money instead of spending it: Well, you could always gamble on finding more tools instead.

At the end of the day, Energy Crystals save you money on replacement tools but cost a fortune up front. So, buy them if you’re planning for the long haul—or just enjoy living dangerously with a dead battery.
