Resident Evil Requiem: Hiding From the Children Guide

Resident Evil Requiem: Hide From the Children Guide

The Orphanage stealth section in Resident Evil Requiem requires you to hide from the children and move only when the path is clear. You cannot fight them, and getting caught results in a quick death. The goal is to move between safe hiding spots, wait patiently, and reach the Director’s Office to obtain the Hatch Key.

This section is about timing and positioning, not speed.

How the Children Patrol the Orphanage

The children follow fixed patrol routes and react to sound and line of sight. If they see you standing or running in open space, they will rush you immediately.

Safe movement rules to follow:

  • Stay crouched at all times

  • Break line of sight before moving

  • Hide fully under objects, not beside them

  • Wait for full silence before exiting cover

If they stop moving, do not assume they are gone. Always give it a few extra seconds.

First Hiding Spot Under the Bed

After the cutscene, move into the hallway and enter the first room on the left. Return to the bedroom and slide under the bed.

Stay there until the area is quiet. Do not crawl out early.

Once it is safe, go back into the left room and crouch into the play corner area. There is a small crawl space that leads downstairs.

Lower Floor Table Strategy

When you reach the lower floor, immediately move to the right side and hide under the kid’s table.

Wait there until the children leave the room. This can take about one to two minutes.

If they block the hallway exit, you can briefly step into their view and retreat under the same table. This forces them to reset and leave the hallway, even if you do not see them fully walk away.

Once clear, move through the door at the end of the hall.

Director’s Office Escape Route

Inside the Director’s Office, interact with the light on the right side of the room. Then open the wooden drawer along the left wall and climb onto it to reach the Hatch Key.

After picking up the key, the children return.

Your safe hiding spot here is:

  • The corner behind the white boxes

  • Stay crouched and do not move

Wait until the room is fully quiet again before proceeding.

Opening the Hatch and Entering the Tunnels

Once the room is clear, move to the south side of the office and unlock the floor hatch with the Hatch Key.

Climb down into the tunnels and follow the linear path. There are no alternate routes here, so just keep moving forward.

Eventually, you will reach the Underground Chapel.

Underground Chapel Progression

In the Underground Chapel, go behind the altar. This triggers a wall to open and reveal a ladder.

You cannot climb the ladder yet.

Pull the lever in the same room to restore power and turn on the lights. This unlocks the next section of the path.

Toe Tag File Location

After using the lever and opening the side door in the Underground Chapel, enter the room with black coffins.

Open the coffin on the right side to collect the Toe Tag file. Rotate it and read the back to complete the entry.

Final Blurb

The Orphanage hide from the children sequence is one of the most tense sections in Resident Evil Requiem. Patience is your strongest weapon here. Stay crouched, wait longer than you think you need to, and always move from one full hiding spot to another. Once you reach the Director’s Office and secure the Hatch Key, the hardest part is over. Just do not get impatient… that is how most runs end early.
