Note: This guide covers content from Schedule 1, a satirical video game set in a fictional world. All items, recipes, and references are entirely made up and exist only in the game. Please don’t try any of this in real life.
If you’re stuck on the “Loading Data” screen in Schedule 1, you’re unfortunately not alone. This bug usually kicks in after the prologue, right when things are supposed to get good. Luckily, some players have figured out how to force your game back to life. Here's a quick list of options that might help you out.

Step-by-Step Fix: How to Escape the Infinite Loading Screen
1. Host Your Own Game First
Create a new game
Pick “Skip Prologue”
Host it solo
Then exit the session
2. Try Connecting Again
Now try to join your friend’s game again
If it works, congrats—your game just needed a little nudge
If not, keep going below
3. Add the Host to Your Steam Friends List
Some players fixed it just by friending the host on Steam
After that, they hosted a new game, had the friend join their session
Then they tried joining their friend’s game again—and it worked
4. Try a Solo Game With the Full Prologue
Create another new save
This time do not skip the prologue
Finish the prologue completely
Once you reach free roam, exit and try joining a friend again
5. Verify Game Files (Just in Case)
Go to Steam Library > Right-click Schedule 1 > Properties > Installed Files > Verify
This probably won’t fix it alone, but it’s worth doing during the process
6. Restart the Game After All That
Fully close and reopen Schedule 1
Then try joining your friend again
General Troubleshooting (If All Else Fails)
Restart Steam
Disable any overlays (Steam, Discord, etc.)
Launch the game as administrator
Make sure both players are on the same version
Try turning off Steam Cloud sync temporarily
Note: If nothing is working for you, it may be worth reaching out to the devs directly on their Discord server.
Final Blurb
If you’re stuck staring at the “Loading Data” screen while your friends are building empires, it’s not your PC—it’s just Schedule 1 doing Schedule 1 things. Hosting your own game, adding the host as a friend, and playing through the prologue seem to be the magic combination. And if none of that works? Honestly, give it a day or two—the devs will probably hotfix it soon, especially if people keep bringing it up.
