Do not judge a location only by how defensible it looks under the old rules. The Claygun can reshape terrain, but 1.0 also introduces enemies capable of digging. A cliff or artificial clay barrier may remain useful without being completely secure.

Leave more construction room than the first shelter appears to require. Crafting machinery, automated farms, refining equipment, storage, large vehicles, and defensive systems consume space rapidly.
