Simple OSRS F2P Ironman Guide
Here’s a basic f2p Ironman guide for Old School RuneScape to get you started. We’ll just get straight into it!
Early Game Goals:
Complete Key Quests:
Doing quests early gives a huge experience boost, which helps skip the slow grind at low levels.The Knight’s Sword: Levels Smithing from 1 to 29.
Vampyre Slayer: Levels Attack to 20.
The Restless Ghost: Levels Prayer to 9.
Goblin Diplomacy & Sheep Shearer: Early Crafting experience.
Imp Catcher: Easy amulet of accuracy for ranged training.
X Marks the Spot: 300 experience lamp, use it on a low-level skill.
Moneymaking Methods:
Stronghold of Security:
Complete it for 10,000 coins and the Fancy/Fighting boots. Bring food like cooked meat or shrimps to survive.Banana Crates (Pirate’s Treasure):
Fill banana crates for Luthas on Musa Point to earn quick money early on.Steel Platelegs Spawn (Wilderness):
Hop worlds and pick up steel platelegs near the ruins in level 24 Wilderness. Bank them at Ferox Enclave and sell them in Al Kharid.
Combat Training:
Melee:
1–20: Complete Vampyre Slayer for instant Attack level 20.
20–30: Train on cows or chickens to collect cowhides and feathers.
30–40: Minotaurs (collect iron arrows for ranged training).
40+: Hill giants for big bones (Prayer XP) and giant keys (Obor boss for rune items).
Ranged:
1–10: Start with cows or chickens for quick XP and drops.
10–30: Safespot minotaurs (collect iron arrows).
30–50+: Safespot hill giants for big bones and rune drops.
Magic:
1–13: Use free runes from the Magic tutor to cast Wind Strike on cows or goblins.
13–55: Cast Fire Strike on hill giants or moss giants.
55+: Cast High Alchemy on valuable drops for money.
Skilling Goals:
Fishing & Cooking:
Start by net fishing shrimps at Lumbridge.
At level 20, switch to fly fishing in Barbarian Village for fast XP.
Mining & Smithing:
Complete The Knight’s Sword for 29 Smithing.
Mine iron at Varrock and smith it into iron equipment for money or XP.
Woodcutting & Firemaking:
Cut normal trees until level 15, then switch to oak trees.
At level 30, start chopping willow trees in Draynor Village for faster XP.
Runecrafting:
Complete Rune Mysteries to unlock Runecrafting.
Craft air runes until level 9, then switch to earth runes for faster XP.
Equipment Progression:
Melee:
Start with a bronze scimitar (Rimmington house spawn).
Upgrade to iron, steel, and mithril scimitars from Zeke in Al Kharid.
Aim for a barronite mace from Camdozaal or a rune sword/scimitar for endgame.
Ranged:
Use leather armor early, then upgrade to studded leather and green d’hide.
Buy a maple shortbow from Lowe’s Archery Emporium once you hit level 30 Ranged.
Magic:
Wear wizard robes and use elemental staves.
Aim for Bryophyta’s staff for better DPS when using nature runes.
Additional Tips:
Save All Big Bones:
Bury big bones or use them later for Prayer training. Aim for 43 Prayer to unlock all protection prayers.Use the Skull Sceptre:
Collect all four pieces from the Stronghold of Security to assemble a Skull Sceptre, which provides teleports to Barbarian Village.Bank Space Management:
Keep only essential items in your bank. Use placeholders to avoid accidental withdrawals.
