In Star Wars: The Old Republic (SWTOR), companions assist you in combat and missions. Here's how to change your active companion:

1. Open the Companions and Contacts Window

  • Keyboard Shortcut: Press the "N" key to open the Companions and Contacts window.

  • Menu Navigation: Alternatively, click on the triangle icon in the top menu bar and select "Companions and Contacts."

2. Summon a Companion

  • Select a Companion: In the Companions and Contacts window you'll see a list of your available companions.

  • Summon: Click the "Summon" button next to the companion you wish to call. This will dismiss your current companion and summon the selected one.

3. Change Companion Roles

Companions can fulfill different roles: Damage (DPS), Healing, or Tanking. To change a companion's role:

  • Right-Click Portrait: Right-click on your companion's portrait located at the bottom left corner of the screen.

  • Select Role: Choose "Role Selection" and then pick Damage, Heal, or Tank based on your needs.

Companion Tips

  • Influence Level: A companion's effectiveness in combat is partially determined by their Influence Level. Increase this by completing missions with them or giving them gifts.

  • Customization: You can change your companion's appearance by equipping different gear or using customization items found throughout the game.
