In KCD2, committing crimes like stealing, assault, or murder can get you a Wanted Status, marked by a red prison gate icon on your map. This means guards will chase and attack you on sight, NPCs might refuse to trade, and your reputation in that town will drop.

If you want to clear your name, there are a few ways to do it.

How Wanted Status Works

  • If you are seen committing a crime, the nearest guard or witness will raise the alarm.

  • The severity of your crime determines how persistent guards are.

  • Bribing, persuasion, or waiting can help remove the status over time.

  • If arrested, you may face a fine, jail time, or execution, depending on the crime.

How to Remove Wanted Status

Waiting It Out

  • The Wanted Status will expire over time, usually within a few in-game days.

  • You must avoid the town where you are wanted until it disappears.

  • Bribing guards or increasing your reputation through good deeds can make this process faster.

Pros: No jail time, no fines
Cons: Takes time, cannot enter town freely

Surrendering to the Guards

  • Store your valuables and stolen goods in a safe place.

  • Walk into town and speak to a guard.

  • Pay a fine or serve jail time, depending on the crime.

  • Once released, your Wanted Status is gone.

Pros: Clears your name immediately
Cons: May lose reputation, time spent in jail reduces skills

Using a Cheat Command (PC Only)

  • Open the console menu (~ key).

  • Enter the command:

    cheat_set_wanted_level=0

  • Your Wanted Status will be instantly removed, but achievements will be disabled.

Pros: Immediate solution
Cons: Disables trophies and achievements

How to Avoid Getting a Wanted Status

  • Commit crimes at night when fewer witnesses are around.

  • Wear dark clothing and use stealth.

  • Eliminate witnesses before they can report you.

  • Use Indulgence Chests to improve your reputation after committing crimes.

The Wanted Status can make life difficult in KCD2, but whether you wait it out, surrender, or cheat, there is always a way to clear your name.
