In Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, hides and animal trophies can be tricky to deal with, especially when it comes to selling them. Here’s a simple guide on what you can do with them:
Trappers and Gameskeepers: These NPCs are the main buyers for hides. You can sell most hides and pelts to them, as long as the animal wasn’t poached. This is probably what you’ll want to do with most.
Poached Hides: If you killed an animal that’s considered "property of the king" (like certain deer or other animals), you can’t just sell these hides to regular merchants or trappers. Selling them would be illegal and considered poaching. The best way to get rid of these is to find a fence (you’ll find one in the Nomad camp), or wait until the "stolen goods" timer expires. Once that happens, you can sell them legally to merchants or gameskeepers.
Blacksmiths: Depending on the hide, some blacksmiths might be interested in buying them. For example, they might buy hides for use in crafting certain items. But generally, the trappers and gameskeepers are your go-to.
Inventory Management: Hides and trophies can clutter up your inventory. While they may seem valuable, their practical uses are limited unless you’re crafting or selling them. Keep an eye on your inventory and consider selling off any excess.
Roe-deer Hide Example: Some hides, like the roe-deer hide, aren’t great for crafting because they don’t have the same strength as larger hides. These are mostly useful as fur and can be sold for a bit of coin.
In short, just be cautious of poached animals. If you’ve got a legitimate hide, find a gameskeeper, trapper, or blacksmith to sell it. If it's poached, you’ll need to get creative with a fence or wait for the stolen status to expire.
