Finding decor in World of Warcraft’s new housing system is half the fun. Decor items come from all over Azeroth, including quests, dungeons, events, and vendors in the new expansion zones. Here’s every main way to get decor and start filling your house fast.
Getting Decor for the First Time in World of Warcraft
You can start earning decor the moment you log in after the housing update. Any completed quest or achievement that rewards decor automatically credits your Warband. Open your House Chest to check what you’ve unlocked.
If you haven’t pre-ordered Midnight, you’ll still earn decor from those sources, but you can’t use or preview them until the full expansion launch. Players with early access can start decorating right away with Patch 11.2.7.
Main Decor Sources
Quest Rewards
Many quests in the War Within zones drop decor as first-time rewards. Quests in Khaz Algar, Undermine, and K’aresh often give learnable decor items. Once you learn them, they’re added to your House Chest and can be repurchased from vendors for gold.
Vendors
Certain vendors sell unique decor pieces that can’t be found anywhere else. For TWW, these vendors appear in:
Khaz Algar
Undermine
K’aresh
Some require reputation or renown to unlock their full catalog. Check each vendor’s stock as your reputation grows, since decor lists expand at higher ranks.
Achievements
Achievements tied to exploration, crafting, or event participation often give one-time decor rewards. Once earned, they automatically unlock in your House Chest. Make sure to log onto each alt since decor collection is tracked Warband-wide.
Events and Holidays
Seasonal events are one of the best decor sources. World events like Hallow’s End, Winter Veil, and Noblegarden drop themed furniture, lighting, and outdoor props. When the event ends, the decor stays permanently unlocked for your entire Warband.
Dungeon and Raid Drops
Final bosses in dungeons and raids introduced with The War Within can drop rare decor pieces. These are guaranteed on your first clear and count as uncommon or higher quality, which also gives house XP when learned.
Professions
After the Midnight expansion fully launches, crafters can make decor through new profession recipes. Each crafted piece requires specific materials like refined lumber or gemstone dyes. Crafted decor is tradable and can also appear on the Auction House.
Farming Tips
Use your Housing Dashboard’s Decor Catalog to track what you own and what’s still missing
Complete unfinished achievements that list decor rewards
Visit all three vendor hubs weekly for new stock rotations
Farm dungeons on different characters for first-time drop credit
Buy crafted decor from the Auction House only after checking if it’s a first-time collectible
Final Blurb
You can collect decor in WoW from almost everything you already do in the game. Quests, achievements, and vendors give early pieces, while dungeons, professions, and holidays add rare ones. Keep an eye on your Decor Catalog and your neighborhood will fill up faster than you expect.
