Here’s a simple guide on how to unlock and use Paybacks in WWE 2K25, with some extra tips to help you avoid getting disqualified (or to get disqualified on purpose — no judgment).

How To Unlock Paybacks in WWE 2K25

  • Most Paybacks are available by default and can be assigned in Create-A-Superstar or Edit Move-Set.

  • Some secret Paybacks must be unlocked in MyRISE mode (like Soul Siphon and Bloodline Run-In).

  • To assign Paybacks:

    • Go to Creation Suite > Superstar.

    • Select your Superstar, then go to the Payback section.

    • You can equip two Paybacks max (one Level 1, one Level 2).

  • Certain Paybacks like Resiliency require your character to have an Overall rating of 85 or higher to equip.

How To Use Paybacks in Matches

  • Trigger a Payback by holding R2 (PS) / RT (Xbox) + Triangle (PS) / Y (Xbox) when prompted during a match.

  • You must have your Payback meter filled before you can activate it.

  • Some Paybacks can get you disqualified in standard matches, so use them carefully — or turn off DQs if you just want chaos.

Examples of Paybacks You Can Use:

  • Resiliency – Escape a pin or submission easily.

  • Low Blow – Classic dirty move, can get you DQ’d.

  • Move Thief – Steal your opponent’s Finisher.

  • Ref Bump – Push your opponent into the referee to cause a distraction.

  • Blackout – Teleport behind your opponent (not available in multi-man matches).

  • Rage – Instantly fill your Finisher meter.

  • Run-In – Call in help from an ally (1v1 only).

Final Blurb

Paybacks are the perfect “get out of jail free” card when you’re down bad in WWE 2K25. Equip your favorites, trigger them at the right time, and maybe—just maybe—you’ll escape that match with your pride (or your title) intact. Or you’ll get DQ’d for spitting poison mist. Either way, it’s entertaining.
