Crimson Moon Crossplay, Cross-Platform & Progression Details

Yes, Crimson Moon supports full crossplay between PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. That means you can play its two-player co-op with a friend even if they're using a different supported platform. Cross-progression is a different story, however: your save and progression do not transfer between platforms at launch, so moving from PC to PS5 or Xbox means starting over.

Does Crimson Moon Have Crossplay?

Crimson Moon has full crossplay across its PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S versions. You aren't restricted to playing co-op with someone on the same hardware, so a PC player can join a friend on console and PlayStation and Xbox players can play together as well.

That's particularly useful in Crimson Moon because co-op only supports two players. You don't need to coordinate which version both people buy just to make a two-person group work; as long as you're both playing on one of the supported platforms, the platform itself doesn't prevent you from running Hunts together.

Which Crimson Moon Platforms Can Play Together?

Crossplay works between all three currently supported platform groups: PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. In practical terms, that means PC can play with PS5 or Xbox, PS5 can play with Xbox or PC, and Xbox can play with PS5 or PC.

There isn't a separate console-only crossplay restriction here. Crimson Moon's crossplay covers the PC version as well, which is worth clarifying because some multiplayer games allow PlayStation and Xbox users to connect while keeping PC in a separate matchmaking pool.

Does Crimson Moon Have Cross-Progression?

No. Crimson Moon does not support cross-progression at launch. Your progression is tied to the platform where you're playing rather than following you between the PC, PlayStation, and Xbox versions of the game.

This is an important distinction from crossplay. Crossplay lets two people on different platforms play together, while cross-progression would let one person continue the same save on multiple platforms. Crimson Moon supports the first feature but not the second.

So, for example, owning the PC version and later buying Crimson Moon on PS5 does not let you simply continue your existing PC progression on PlayStation. The same applies when moving between any of the supported platforms.

What Happens If You Switch Platforms?

If you decide to move to another platform, you'll need to purchase Crimson Moon on that platform separately and begin your progression again there. Your existing character progress does not transfer over.

That's worth considering before choosing where to play long term. Crimson Moon has progression built around repeated Hunts, character levels, Gold, purified equipment, Boons, and expanding your available loadouts, so switching platforms isn't simply a matter of replaying a short opening section. The farther you progress on one version, the more you'll have to rebuild if you later move elsewhere.

If you're only worried about where your friends are playing, though, there isn't much reason to switch platforms for multiplayer alone. Crossplay already allows you to stay on your preferred system and play with friends using the other supported versions.

Is Crimson Moon Cross-Platform?

Yes, if by cross-platform you mean playing Crimson Moon with people using different platforms. The game supports cross-platform multiplayer between PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S through its crossplay system.

It's useful to separate that from cross-platform saves, because the two features are sometimes described with the same terminology. Multiplayer crosses platform boundaries, but your progression does not. You can fight alongside someone playing on another system, but you can't move your own save between those systems.

Crimson Moon Crossplay and Cross-Progression Summary

Crimson Moon supports full crossplay between PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, so you can play two-player co-op with friends regardless of which of those platforms they use. It does not support cross-progression at launch, meaning your character and save data remain separate between platforms.

If you're choosing which version to buy, I'd pick the platform where you actually expect to keep playing rather than worrying about matching your co-op partner. Crossplay already solves the multiplayer side of that decision; the lack of cross-progression is what makes your own platform choice more permanent.
