Ace Combat 8 Mission 16 Ship Locations Guide
Mission 16: Singer hides three terrorist cargo ships among civilian traffic, so locking onto a vessel is not enough to know you have the right target. The ships share a specific visual marking and are concentrated in one part of the map, which makes the search much faster once you know where to start.

Ace Combat 8 Mission 16 Ship Locations
The three terrorist ships in Ace Combat 8 Mission 16 are located around the northwest section of the map. Search the stationary cargo ships in that area and look for vessels with three cranes on the deck and a red sun emblem on the hull.
There are exactly three disguised ships to destroy.

Area → Northwest section of the map
Ship Type → Cargo/container ship
Deck → Three cranes
Hull Marking → Red sun emblem
Total Targets → 3 ships
You do not need to search the entire ocean equally. Head toward the northwest shipping area and inspect the cargo vessels there rather than wasting time checking unrelated traffic across the map.
How to Identify the Mission 16 Ships
The safest way to identify a terrorist ship is to confirm both parts of its appearance before firing.
The target cargo ships have three cranes across the deck and a red sun emblem painted on the hull. Civilian ships do not share that complete combination.
Do not fire simply because a vessel looks similar or because you can lock onto it. Mission 16 specifically places the targets among civilian shipping, so visually confirming the ship first prevents unnecessary mistakes.

The ships are stationary during the search, which makes identification easier. Make a wider pass that lets you see both the deck and the side of the hull, then move on immediately if the markings do not match.
Best Way to Search the Northwest Ship Area
Start by flying toward the northwest side of the map and scanning the cargo ships from a moderate distance rather than dropping directly onto the first radar contact.
A broad approach gives you a better view of the deck layout and makes the red sun emblem easier to spot. Once a ship is confirmed, destroy it and continue through the surrounding shipping instead of doubling back over vessels you already checked.
Fly toward the northwest shipping area
Check cargo ships for three cranes
Confirm the red sun emblem
Destroy the confirmed target
Continue toward the next group of ships
Enemy aircraft can appear while you are searching, but chasing every fighter away from the shipping lane can cost more time than it saves. Deal with anything actively disrupting the search, then return to identifying the ships.
How to Find the Third Ship in Mission 16
The third terrorist ship becomes much easier to locate after the first two are destroyed.
Once you sink the second confirmed cargo ship, the remaining ship attacks you and reveals itself. At that point, you no longer need to continue visually checking every civilian vessel in the northwest area.
Watch for the hostile attack after the second ship goes down, then turn toward the newly exposed third vessel and destroy it.
This means the real search is for the first two ships. Once both are eliminated, the final target gives away its position.

The video below shows the Mission 16 ship search and makes the northwest location and ship markings easier to recognize before doing the mission yourself.
Find the Ships Before the UAV Launch
Mission 16 puts time pressure on the search because the terrorists are preparing explosive UAVs while you identify the vessels.
The faster you locate the ships in the northwest area, the less pressure you face from the UAV phase. If the explosive UAVs launch, they become the immediate threat and begin climbing toward 40,000 feet.
For a normal campaign clear, there is no reason to spend extra time checking every ship after you have confirmed the correct targets. Use the northwest location, crane layout, and red sun emblem to move through the search as quickly as possible.
Mission 16 Is Also Good for MRP Farming
Once you know where the ships are, repeat clears become considerably faster because the identification portion no longer requires searching the entire shipping lane.
Mission 16 is also one of the strongest options for earning MRP efficiently. The Ace Combat 8 best MRP farming guide covers why Singer works so well when you are running missions repeatedly for currency.
Do Not Search Every Ship on the Map
The main shortcut in Mission 16 is knowing that the terrorist ships are not randomly spread across the entire map.
Concentrate on the northwest cargo ships, look for three cranes and the red sun emblem, and destroy the first two confirmed targets. Once the second goes down, the third ship reveals itself by attacking you.
That turns Mission 16 from a map-wide search into a much smaller identification problem: northwest first, confirm the markings, then let the final ship expose itself.
