If Clampdown isn't starting in Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.5, first check that you've completed The Heist and at least two gigs for Wakako Okada. After that, you're supposed to receive a text from Wakako titled "A Request from King." If the message never arrives, one workaround is to travel to the MLK & Brandon fast travel point in Arroyo and spend a few minutes near the BuryGer restaurant. This has helped some players trigger the missing quest, although it doesn't work on every save.

Cyberpunk 2077 Clampdown Not Starting Fix
The first thing I'd try is visiting the area where Clampdown eventually begins. You don't need to have the mission marker available to travel there, and waiting nearby has successfully triggered Wakako's message for some players who were otherwise stuck.
- Load your save with Cyberpunk 2077 updated to version 2.5.
- Open the map and travel to MLK & Brandon in Arroyo, Santo Domingo.
- Head toward the nearby BuryGer restaurant.
- Remain in the area for several real-world minutes. You can walk around or stay nearby.
- Check your phone for a message from Wakako titled "A Request from King."
- If the message arrives, open it and reply to continue unlocking Clampdown.
There's no guaranteed waiting time. Some players have received the message shortly after fast traveling, while others have needed to remain nearby longer. It's also possible for the quest to remain stuck despite waiting at the restaurant.
Once Wakako contacts you, follow her instructions to meet King at the BuryGer location. The quest then leads into the new prison-break storyline added with the Edgerunners 2 update.
Cyberpunk 2077 Clampdown Unlock Requirements
Clampdown has two main progression requirements: finish The Heist during the main story and complete any two gigs for Wakako Okada. You must also have Update 2.5 installed, since Clampdown wasn't available in earlier versions.
You don't need to finish all eight of Wakako's gigs or reach Street Cred 20 specifically for Clampdown. Those aren't part of the quest's stated unlock requirements.
Wakako's message may take some time to arrive even after you've met both conditions. This is especially frustrating on older saves where you've already finished the main story and her gigs before installing the update.
Before trying additional fixes, open your phone and check Wakako's existing conversation. Look for "A Request from King" rather than waiting exclusively for an incoming call. If the message is already there, read it and respond to advance the quest.
Clampdown Still Not Starting After Meeting the Requirements
If you have already completed The Heist and two Wakako gigs, but waiting near BuryGer does nothing, there are a few other ways to give the missing message another opportunity to appear.
- Drive instead of fast traveling: Leave the restaurant area, complete another activity, and drive back to Arroyo. Some delayed messages arrive during ordinary travel.
- Skip time: Advance 24 in-game hours, return to normal gameplay, and check your phone again. You can repeat this, but skipping time alone isn't a guaranteed fix.
- Complete another quest: Try finishing an available side job or gig before returning to the meeting location.
- Reload your save: Make a manual save, exit the game completely, relaunch it, and load back in.
- Check the game version: Confirm that Update 2.5 is installed. On PC, verifying the installation files is also worth trying if other quest content is behaving incorrectly.
Some players have reported the quest appearing after several hours of ordinary gameplay, even when repeated time skips accomplished nothing. Others are still unable to trigger it on saves that meet every listed requirement.
That means a missing message isn't necessarily evidence that you need more Street Cred, additional Wakako gigs, or Phantom Liberty progression. It may be an issue with how the quest activates on your save.
What if Wakako Never Sends the Message?
If you've confirmed the prerequisites, checked your phone, visited MLK & Brandon, and tried reloading, there's no universally reliable workaround confirmed for every affected save.
At that point, avoid deleting your existing save or restarting the entire story solely for Clampdown. You can continue playing other quests and check again later, or report the missing trigger through the game's official technical support.
For most players, the fastest troubleshooting route is to confirm the two required Wakako gigs, check the "A Request from King" message, and visit the BuryGer area near MLK & Brandon. If none of those works, the quest may be affected by an Update 2.5 activation bug rather than anything you've missed in the story.
