Depot Resident is a Moon Sweepers achievement that requires you to deposit dust at the Depot 1,000 times. Unlike achievements that track how much dust you've collected or how much money you've earned, this one focuses on repeated deliveries. Reaching 1,000 deposits takes some patience, but choosing a short, repeatable cleaning route can make the process much more manageable.

How to Unlock Depot Resident in Moon Sweepers
To get the Depot Resident achievement, you need to make 1,000 dust deposits at the Depot. There's no specific vehicle, machine, or upgrade listed as a requirement, so you can begin working toward it using the basic tools available at the start of the game.
For a straightforward manual deposit:
- Collect lunar dust with your cleaning tool.
- Press Q to pack the dust into a capsule.
- Carry the capsule back to the Depot Intake at your station.
- Deposit the capsule into the receiving area.
- Continue making deliveries until you've reached the achievement's 1,000-deposit requirement.
Depot Resident is the middle milestone in a series of three deposit-related achievements:
- Regular Customer: Deposit dust 100 times.
- Depot Resident: Deposit dust 1,000 times.
- Do You Live Here?: Deposit dust 10,000 times.
These milestones are different from Frequent Flyer Dust, which requires contributing dust to 10 successful launches. Depositing and launching aren't interchangeable achievement requirements.
How to Get 1,000 Deposits Faster in Moon Sweepers
I'd focus on shortening the time between deposits rather than trying to carry the largest possible load. Depot Resident isn't awarded for reaching a certain total weight, so an enormous dust shipment doesn't automatically bring you closer to 1,000 registered deposits.
Cleaning close to the station is a practical place to start. With less distance between your cleaning area and the Depot Intake, you can spend more time making deliveries and less time traveling.
Keep Your Deposit Route Short
For this particular achievement, I'd prioritize a nearby patch of uncleared ground over traveling farther away to fill a larger container.
After several deliveries, check your achievement progress if it's available through Steam. That will help you confirm your chosen routine is registering deposits before you repeat it hundreds of times.
Once you've established a working routine, consistency matters more than buying expensive cleaning equipment. A faster sweeper might gather dust more quickly, but you'll still need the deposits themselves to register.
How Long Does 1,000 Deposits Take?
Your total time depends on how quickly you can complete each successful deposit. Here are some estimates for starting from zero:
| Average Time Per Deposit | Time for 1,000 Deposits |
|---|---|
| 10 seconds | 2 hours, 47 minutes |
| 20 seconds | 5 hours, 33 minutes |
| 30 seconds | 8 hours, 20 minutes |
These are theoretical estimates assuming every deposit counts and there are no interruptions. Your actual time will depend on the method you're using and how much progress you've already made.
Even cutting five seconds from each deposit would save roughly 83 minutes over the full 1,000-deposit requirement. That's why reducing unnecessary travel is worth considering.
Do Conveyor Belt Deposits Count Toward Depot Resident?
Moon Sweepers lets you send dust capsules into the Depot automatically using Conveyors, but whether these deliveries count toward Depot Resident hasn't been conclusively established.
This matters because selling dust and registering achievement progress aren't necessarily the same thing. A factory might be earning money from automated deliveries without proving that those deliveries increase your personal deposit count.
If you already have a Conveyor system, I'd test it before relying on it for the achievement:
- Check your current deposit achievement progress, if Steam displays it.
- Send several capsules through a Conveyor connected to the Depot Intake.
- Confirm the capsules are delivered successfully.
- Check whether your achievement progress increased.
- If the result is unclear, compare it with a short series of manual deposits.
Until automated counting is confirmed, repeated manual deposits are the more established approach. There's little benefit in leaving a factory running specifically for Depot Resident if you don't know whether those deliveries are advancing the requirement.
If you want to set up automatic dust delivery, our Moon Sweepers Auto Selling Guide covers connecting equipment to the Depot.
Depot Resident ultimately comes down to reaching 1,000 registered deposits. Keep your route short, distinguish deposits from successful launches, and verify any automated method before depending on it for the entire grind.
