All Gentle Thief Questions and Answers in Phantom Blade Zero
The Gentle Thief asks three questions to determine whether you really know what happened to his brother. You must answer all three correctly during the same conversation.
| Question | Correct Answer |
|---|---|
| What did the Nimble Thief do at thirteen that he always bragged about? | B. Stole a landowner's jade belt |
| What was the shape of the hairpin's head? | C. Butterfly |
| What happened to the child mentioned in the letter? | D. The letter never said. His fate is unknown |
The correct answer sequence is B, C, D. Choosing all three convinces the Gentle Thief that you have his brother's letter.
Why Is the Third Answer Unknown?
The final question is easy to overthink because the dialogue suggests several possible outcomes for the child. However, the Nimble Thief's letter never confirms what happened.
The correct choice is that his fate remains unknown. The conversation tests your knowledge of the letter, not your ability to guess what happened afterward.
How to Start Honor Among Thieves
Honor Among Thieves becomes available during Act 2, but you'll need the Blood Letter from the Nimble Thief before you can complete the Gentle Thief's questioning.
To obtain the letter:
- Travel to the area near the Outlaw Trap bell.
- Find and defeat the Nimble Thief.
- Collect the Blood Letter from the Nimble Thief.
- Check the Wulin Tales book if you want to read the letter before visiting his brother.
The letter contains the details needed to answer every question, including the stolen jade belt and the butterfly hairpin.
If you're struggling with the encounter, our Phantom Blade Zero Best Weapons Guide covers useful weapons and early upgrade choices.
Where to Find the Gentle Thief in Phantom Blade Zero
The Gentle Thief is located inside a hut at Thieves' Camp in the Crimson Forest.
Once you reach the camp, look toward the huts on the right-hand side. You'll find him sitting on a stack of wooden boxes inside one of the buildings.
- Reach Thieves' Camp through the Crimson Forest.
- Enter the hut on the right side of the camp.
- Speak to the Gentle Thief after obtaining his brother's letter.
- Answer the three questions correctly to earn his trust.
What If the Gentle Thief Won't Ask the Questions?
First, confirm that you've obtained the Blood Letter from the Nimble Thief. Reaching Thieves' Camp by itself isn't enough to complete the questioning.
Check your Wulin Tales book for the letter if you're unsure whether you've collected it.
You can use bells to save your progress while traveling between these locations. Our Phantom Blade Zero How to Save Guide explains the saving system.
What Happens If You Answer the Gentle Thief Wrong?
An incorrect answer won't permanently fail Honor Among Thieves. The conversation ends, but you can speak to the Gentle Thief again and retry.
You'll have to restart from the first question, even if you answered the previous ones correctly. There is no confirmed limit on the number of attempts.
Can You Miss Honor Among Thieves?
Yes. There's a potential point of no return involving Thieves' Camp later in the story.
The exact cutoff isn't established by the available information, so I'd recommend completing this quest as soon as you obtain the letter and reach the Gentle Thief.
The conversation takes little time once you know the answers, and finishing it early avoids risking the reward through further story progression.
Gentle Thief Reward: Silent Wrap
Successfully answering all three questions rewards you with the Silent Wrap, a support accessory designed for quieter movement and stealth attacks.
| Item | Silent Wrap |
| Type | Support Accessory |
| Effect | Reduces footstep and assassination noise by 40% |
Is the Silent Wrap Worth Using?
The Silent Wrap is useful for players who prefer approaching enemies quietly instead of immediately entering open combat.
Reducing footstep and assassination noise can help support a stealth-focused approach, particularly when dealing with enemies individually.
It doesn't make Soul invisible or guarantee that enemies won't notice him, but it provides a useful advantage without requiring a specific weapon.
I'd complete Honor Among Thieves during your first opportunity in the Crimson Forest. The questions are easy once you know the answers, the Silent Wrap is a useful accessory, and finishing the quest early removes the risk of missing it later.
