To sprint in Phantom Blade Zero, hold R1 on PS5, RB on an Xbox controller, or Left Shift on PC while moving. Sprinting shares a button with dodging, so the difference comes down to whether you press or hold it. Here's how the controls work and what to do if you're dodging instead of running.

How to Sprint in Phantom Blade Zero
Sprinting is available through the standard movement controls. You don't need to unlock an ability or progress through the story to use it.
| Platform | Sprint Button |
|---|---|
| PS5 | Move with Left Stick + Hold R1 |
| Xbox Controller | Move with Left Stick + Hold RB |
| PC Keyboard | Move with WASD + Hold Left Shift |
Keep holding the sprint button while moving to maintain your faster running speed.
Why Are You Dodging Instead of Sprinting?
Phantom Blade Zero uses the same default input for sprinting and dodging. Tapping R1, RB, or Left Shift performs a dodge, while holding the button during movement makes Soul sprint.
If you're accidentally dodging, make sure you're holding the button rather than quickly pressing and releasing it.
Does Sprinting Affect Stealth?
Yes. Sprinting produces more footstep noise, making it less suitable when you're trying to approach enemies undetected.
For quieter movement, use the crouch button instead: L3 on PS5, Left Stick Press on an Xbox controller, or C on PC.
How to Change Sprint Controls in Phantom Blade Zero
If the default sprint button feels awkward, you can adjust your controls through the Options menu.
- Open the game's Options menu.
- Find the control settings.
- Select a custom control preset.
- Adjust the sprint and dodge bindings to suit your preferred layout.
Because sprinting and dodging share a default input, I'd check both actions after remapping your controls. Make sure you can still comfortably move the camera and dodge during combat.
For the default layout, simply remember to hold R1, RB, or Left Shift while moving to sprint. A quick press performs a dodge instead.
