We Were Here Tomorrow Generator Puzzle Guide

The battery and generator puzzle in We Were Here Tomorrow looks like a maze of generators, cables, and locked sections, but the objective is much narrower than powering everything in the room. You are building one continuous electrical route from GEN to the final Ψ07 module, opening three colored doors along the way while your partner reads connections that the operator cannot fully see.

How to Solve the Battery and Generator Puzzle

Start at GEN and activate the modules in this exact order:

Correct Generator Route:
GEN → Ψ01 → Ψ04 → Ψ02 → Ψ03 → Ψ06 → Σ04 → Σ03 → Σ01 → Σ02 → Ψ08 → Θ03 → Δ02 → Δ03 → λ02 → λ03 → λ01 → Ψ07

Do not activate the unused generators between those steps. The puzzle is not checking whether every module has power; it is checking whether you can construct a legal path through the cable network without breaking the chain.

Every new activation must connect to the module immediately before it. Once you reach one of the door-control modules, its corresponding section opens and adds another part of the network to the route.

Exact Module Route Without Losing Your Place

The full sequence is easier to follow if you break it into the sections created by the colored doors.

Start: GEN → Ψ01 → Ψ04 → Ψ02 → Ψ03 → Ψ06
First Door Section: Σ04 → Σ03 → Σ01 → Σ02
Second Door Section: Ψ08 → Θ03 → Δ02 → Δ03
Final Section: λ02 → λ03 → λ01 → Ψ07

The sequence matters because RED, GRE, and BLU are not separate side objectives. They are gates built directly into the route. Opening one makes new generators available, but it does not move the active electrical path for you.

For example, activating Σ03 opens RED, but the route is still currently sitting at Σ03. Your next move therefore needs to be connected to Σ03, which is why you continue into Σ01 instead of jumping straight to one of the newly revealed Δ modules.

That distinction is the key to the entire puzzle. A door opening changes what is available; it does not change where your active route currently ends.

What Each Player Should Do During the Generator Puzzle

The generator room is another asymmetrical We Were Here Tomorrow puzzle, and trying to make both players independently solve the entire board makes it harder than it needs to be.

Keep one player at the module controls and have the other concentrate on reading the cable connections and door state. The operator does not need to reason through the whole network while also pressing modules; they only need the next valid module.

A reliable rhythm is to have the reader call the next module ID, then have the operator repeat it before pressing anything. After the input, confirm that the corresponding indicator light changed before moving to the next step.

Recommended Co-op Method:
Reader calls the next module ID.
Operator repeats the ID to confirm it.
Operator activates the module once.
Both players confirm the indicator registered.
Reader moves to the next cable connection.

This prevents one mistaken button press from becoming five more wrong inputs before either player realizes where the route actually stopped.

Which Modules Open the RED, GRE, and BLU Doors?

Three generators control the locked sections of the network:

RED: Activate Σ03
GRE: Activate Σ02
BLU: Activate Δ03

RED exposes additional Δ modules, GRE opens the Θ section, and BLU gives you access to the λ generators used near the end of the route.

You do not need to detour from the solution to open any of them. Σ03, Σ02, and Δ03 are already positioned naturally inside the correct route.

The mistake is usually what happens after the door opens. Do not immediately jump into whichever new module became available. Continue from the generator you just activated and follow its cable connection to the next step in the sequence.

Third Battery Puzzle Solution

If you are searching specifically for the third battery solution, the same route may appear on your panel using abbreviated letter labels instead of the Greek module names.

Use this sequence:

Third Battery Route:
W1 → W4 → W2 → W3 → W6 → E4 → E3 → E1 → E2 → W8 → O3 → A2 → A3 → λ2 → λ3 → λ1 → W7

Finish at W7 and verify that the final activation registers before doing anything else. You still do not need to turn on every generator visible around the battery; the unused modules are alternative branches and dead ends rather than missing steps.

If your battery stops receiving power before W7, work backward from the last confirmed indicator rather than restarting the sequence from memory. The first module whose light did not register is where your actual route ended.

Why a Generator Won't Activate

If pressing a module appears to do nothing, the puzzle is usually rejecting the move rather than failing to respond.

Watch the indicator light immediately after every input. A button animation is not enough to confirm that the electrical route advanced. If the light does not change, stay on the previous valid module and check the cable connection again.

There are three mistakes that cause most failed attempts.

The first is skipping ahead after opening a door. Newly exposed generators are available, but your next move still needs to connect to the module that opened the door.

The second is mixing up similar module IDs. The Greek prefixes matter just as much as the numbers, so Ψ03, Σ03, Θ03, and Δ03 are completely different points in the network even though they share the same number.

The third is attempting to reuse a module. The correct route moves continuously forward without returning through a generator that has already been used.

If the power stops:
Check whether the last module's indicator actually lit up.
Confirm your next module is directly cabled to that last successful activation.
Check the Greek letter as well as the module number.
Make sure you have not already used that module.
Verify the required colored door has already been opened.

How to Reset the Battery and Generator Puzzle

If you have already committed to a dead-end route, reset the active generator puzzle instead of trying to rescue a sequence that can no longer reach the required modules.

The important part is that resetting the current generator route does not necessarily wipe the battery progress you have already completed. That means there is little value in spending several minutes trying random generators after you know the active chain is broken.

Restart at GEN and use the indicator lights as checkpoints this time. Do not move to the next module until the current one has visibly registered.

The shortest way to think about the puzzle is that GEN is the entrance, Ψ07 is the exit, and the colored doors simply reveal pieces of the road between them. You are not charging every generator in the facility. You are tracing one legal electrical path through the system, and once that distinction clicks, the battery puzzle becomes considerably easier to manage.
