Avowed Simple Tips and Tricks for New Players

New to Avowed or just looking for some advice? Here’s a simple and straightforward guide on things that you can and should do to help yourself on your Avowed journey:
1. Explore Everywhere for XP
Don’t just focus on the main questline. Explore the world, talk to NPCs, and complete side quests. You earn XP for finding new locations, and NPCs often provide helpful advice and lore.
2. Keep an Eye on the Mini Map
The mini map is filled with helpful icons for collectibles, enemies, and quest markers. It can also reveal hidden areas and treasure if you pay attention.
3. Turn Down the Music Volume
The game’s music can be too loud and interfere with dialogue. Set the music volume to around 60% for a better balance between music and conversations.
4. Chat with Your Companions
Once you recruit companions, keep an eye on the exclamation point icon by their name. They’ll want to chat with you, but you’ll need to visit camp to have these conversations and unlock new dialogue.
5. Unlock the Frame Rate
If you're on a 120Hz TV with variable refresh rate support, unlock the frame rate in the settings for a smoother experience, especially on Xbox Series X.
6. Adjust Auto Save Frequency
You can adjust the auto-save frequency in the settings. If you find yourself dying often, this setting can help prevent losing too much progress.
7. Switch to Third-Person Camera
Switch to third-person view in the settings for better combat control, platforming, and the ability to see your character’s gear.
8. Take Advantage of Free Healing at Camp
Fast travel to your camp to heal without using resources. Your health and essence will regenerate for free when you're at camp, and you can fast travel back to the original location or where your camp is.
9. Upgrade Gear Early
Early in the game, you’ll be advised to upgrade your gear. Even though it’s expensive, it’s worth the investment. Using outdated gear will weaken your attacks and make combat much harder. Focus on improving your gear, and consider taking on bounties for extra cash.
