Battlefield 6 Outsells Call of Duty Across Europe

News

It finally happened. Battlefield 6 opened to the biggest launch week of any shooter this year, even pulling ahead of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 across Europe.

Battlefield 6 Wins the Opening Round

Based on GSD sales data, Battlefield 6 took the top spot in both units sold and total revenue during its first week. The numbers include digital and physical copies, showing a clear lead over Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and EA Sports FC 26.

Battlefield 6 sold roughly four times more than Battlefield 5 did in the same region at launch. EA also confirmed that worldwide sales have already passed seven million units, making it the fastest-selling Battlefield in the series to date.

A Few Caveats Still Matter

Call of Duty’s lower position doesn’t mean fewer players. Black Ops 6 was available on Xbox Game Pass at launch, so millions could play without buying it directly. GSD’s charts only count full purchases, which makes Battlefield’s lead notable but not absolute.

EA Sports FC 26 also had a split release between its Ultimate and Standard Editions, which weakened its initial chart numbers compared to last year’s game.

Weekly Chart Snapshot

For the week ending October 12, Battlefield 6 came in first in both units and total sales revenue across Europe. EA Sports FC 26 dropped to second, while Ghost of Yotei landed third with a big decline in week-two sales.

Little Nightmares 3 debuted in fourth, posting slightly lower launch numbers than its 2021 sequel. Rounding out the top five was Red Dead Redemption 2, proving that it never really leaves the charts no matter what else launches.

What This Means for the Shooter Scene

Battlefield 6’s success marks a big comeback after the rocky Battlefield 2042 era. EA’s shift toward classic map design, large-scale destruction, and community-focused updates seems to have hit the right note this time.

Meanwhile, Call of Duty is in an odd spot. Game Pass gives it reach but hurts the optics of “sales wins.” It’s likely Activision will emphasize total engagement instead, especially if active player numbers stay higher.

Long term, both games will be defined by what happens next. Battlefield 6 will need consistent seasonal updates and live support to keep its lead. Call of Duty will aim to rebound with major content drops and crossover events.

Final Blurb

Battlefield 6 has pulled off a rare feat in modern gaming, outselling Call of Duty’s newest entry across Europe during launch week. It’s a strong sign that EA’s flagship shooter is back in form. But with Game Pass muddying comparisons and both titles heading into their first big post-launch updates, the real winner will be whoever keeps players locked in through winter.
