Bellatores is a side quest in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 that involves knights, looters, and a rescue mission that could go smoothly… or very, very badly. This basic KCD2 quest guide will walk you through every step, so you don’t end up lost in the woods (again).
Quest Overview
Starting Location: Kuttenberg Region > Bylany
Quest Giver: Jan Posy of Zimburg
Requirement: Complete Main Quest 14: Speak of the Devil
Reward: 500 Groschen (a solid payday)
Quest Type: Side Quest
Questline: Bellatores → Skeleton in the Closet
Objective: Save Miroslav, don’t get stabbed.
Step 1: Accept the Quest (Or Else)
Speak to Jan Posy of Zimburg in Bylany. He needs your help saving his buddy, Miroslav, from some Cumans. If you say yes, you must follow him immediately. If you so much as hesitate, the quest fails. Jan doesn’t have time for your inventory management.
Step 2: Ride to the Battleground
Call your horse and mount up. If you’re feeling lazy, just hold the follow button, and your horse will do the work for you. Chat with Jan along the way—bonding over traumatic experiences is a knightly tradition.
Step 3: Deal with Looters (Diplomacy or Violence?)
When you arrive, looters will be recycling some battlefield gear. Jan wants to cut them down. You have three ways to deal with this:
Persuade him (Easiest—use your words like a smart knight.)
Intimidate him (Make him feel bad about his life choices.)
Agree to fight (Swing first, ask questions later.)
If you fail the skill checks, Jan does what Jan does best—unsheathes his sword and gets to work.
Step 4: Optional – Pick Up a Halberd
Jan suggests you grab a halberd from the cart. It’s optional, but if you want to try swinging a glorified tree trunk, go for it. Otherwise, stick with your usual weapons.
Step 5: Find the Priest (Not by the Road, of Course)
The priest is not where you think. He’s not on the road but sitting off to the side near a river, leaning against a tree. (Classic NPC move—hiding in the least obvious place.)
Step 6: Tell Jan What You Found
After poking around the priest’s remains, head back to Jan to deliver the news. Try not to sound too traumatized.
Step 7: Track the Cumans with Jan
Jan sets off into the woods (because knights never take the easy route). Follow him. Along the way, he stops to chat with a woman who says the Cumans are holed up in some ruins nearby.
Step 8: Plan the Attack (Or Pretend to)
Jan wants a plan. You can:
Go in alone. (Best choice—less noise, fewer bodies to dodge.)
Wait until night. (Sneaky, smart.)
Rush in like a lunatic. (Jan loves this option, but your armor might not.)
Step 9: Free Miroslav (Preferably Without Dying)
If you go in at night, four Cumans will be asleep, and the guards are easier to take down one by one. If you get spotted, well… have fun with that swordfight.
Find Miroslav in the underground part of the ruins. Untie him and get ready for the next step.
Step 10: Conquer Zimburg (Because Why Not?)
If stealth fails or you chose full assault mode, it’s time to clear the camp. Kill everyone, loot everything, and enjoy the chaos.
Step 11: Mission Complete
Once Miroslav is free, Jan will give you your well-earned 500 Groschen and tell you to return in a few days. What for? Who knows. But you’re probably not done with this mess yet.
That’s the Bellatores quest—some heroism, some sword-swinging, and a reminder that stealth is always an option.
