How to Spot Counterfeit Money (AKA Fake Money)
To identify fake bills, you’ll need a UV lamp. Set it up in a dark part of your workspace. Then, hold bills one at a time under the light.
What to look for:
Glowing blue lines or marks = real
No glow at all = counterfeit
Red symbols (like an eye) = marked bills (still real unless stated otherwise)
Tip: While holding a stack, press X to drop bills one by one under the light. This is the cleanest way to sort without making a mess.
How to Use the Money Counter L
The basic counter does not detect counterfeit money.
The Money Counter L (upgraded version) automatically sorts out fakes:
Correct bills go through as usual
Wrong denominations come out the front
Fake bills are kicked out through the right-side port near the tape reel
You don’t have to change any settings. The machine will detect and sort fakes by default.
What to Do With Fake Bills
Keep them for later – some jobs ask for counterfeit-only deliveries
Don’t mix them with real bundles unless the job allows it
You cannot clean them – washing and drying won’t help
Some missions may also ask for marked bills, which show red stamps but are still real unless flagged otherwise.
Best Places to Use UV Light
The corner near the furnace stays dark most of the day
Under the piggy bank overhang is another good dark spot
Turn off all room lights to see the glow clearly
