How to Fix Lag and FPS Drops in R.E.P.O.

Lag in R.E.P.O. can turn a fun heist into a frustrating, low-budget stop-motion film. If you’re tired of teleporting across the map like a time traveler with bad aim, here are some ways that you may be able to fix lag and boost FPS so your game runs smoothly.
Step 1: Check Your Internet Connection (For Multiplayer Lag)
If enemies are teleporting like they have admin privileges, it might be your internet.
Use a Wired Connection – Ethernet is more stable than Wi-Fi.
Restart Your Router – The oldest trick in the book, but it works. Be sure to leave it turned off and/or unplugged for at least 30 seconds.
Check for Background Downloads – Steam, Windows updates, or someone streaming in 4K can tank your connection.
Step 2: Adjust Your Graphics Settings
The next thing to do is tweak the in-game settings. Your PC may not be a supercomputer, but it can still run R.E.P.O. without looking like it’s powered by a potato.
Window Mode: Set to Fullscreen for better performance.
V-Sync: Turn this off. It can cause input lag, which is great if you want to feel like you're playing five seconds in the past.
Max FPS: Set to Unlimited (or cap it to match your monitor’s refresh rate if overheating is an issue… We do this, personally).

Step 3: Update Your Graphics Drivers
If you haven’t updated your drivers since the Stone Age, now is the time.

Old drivers can make your game run like a slideshow, so keep them updated.
Step 4: Close Background Programs
Your PC can’t focus if you’ve got a dozen Chrome tabs, Spotify, and Discord running while trying to play.
Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) → Close unnecessary apps eating up RAM.
Disable Startup Programs: In Task Manager > Startup, disable anything that isn’t essential.
Step 5: Adjust Windows Performance Settings
Windows loves running things in the background that you don’t need.
Power Settings:
Go to Control Panel > Power Options and set it to High Performance.
Game Mode:
Go to Windows Settings > Gaming > Game Mode and turn it On.
Step 6: Monitor Your System Temperatures
If your PC is turning into a space heater, it might be throttling performance.
Check Temps: Use MSI Afterburner or HWMonitor to see if your CPU/GPU is overheating.
Clean Your PC: Dust buildup can make cooling inefficient.
Proper Airflow: A laptop sitting on a bed = overheating disaster. Use a cooling pad.
