How to Get Wool in Aloft

If you’ve ever stared at a fluffy sheep in Aloft and thought, “How do I turn that into crafting material without upsetting it too much?” then this guide is for you. Wool is a must-have resource for crafting sails, fabrics, and more. Luckily, gathering it is a simple process—as long as you’ve got the right tools and don’t mind the occasional side-eye from your livestock.

Step 1: Find Sheep or Alpacas

First, you’ll need to locate some woolly friends. Head to the Emerald Isles, the first biome in Aloft.

  • Look for sheep or alpacas roaming around peacefully.

  • If you spot a sick animal, don’t worry—you can heal it later with antidotes (because everyone deserves a second chance, even sheep).

Pro Tip: Use Hay to lure the animals back to your farm. It’s like bribery, but fluffier.

Step 2: Craft Shears

You can’t just yank the wool off; you’ll need Shears to do the job properly.

  • Craft Shears using:

    • 1 Carved Wood (crafted from 3 Wood and 1 Hardstone at a workbench).

    • 2 Hardstones (mined from black square nodes with a pickaxe).

  • If you don’t have Shears yet, check out the “How to Make Shears” guide.

Step 3: Shear the Wool

Once you have your Shears:

  1. Approach your sheep or alpaca.

  2. Stand next to the animal and use your Shears.

  3. Voilà! Wool for days.

Your fluffy friends will regrow their wool over time, so keep them fed and happy. Well-fed animals = more wool for you.

What to Do with Wool

Now that you have wool, here’s what you can do with it:

  • Craft a Loom: Use wool threads to build this machine, which is needed for processing fabrics.

  • Make Wool Cloth: This is used for crafting advanced sails like:

    • Wool Square Sail

    • Wool Bermuda Sail

    • Wool Lateen Sail

    • Wool Gaff Sail

And yes, you’ll need those sails to unlock the next biome, Fallen Heights, so get shearing!

Pro Tips for Wool Farming

  1. Raise Multiple Animals: The more sheep or alpacas you have, the more wool you’ll get. It’s basic fluff math.

  2. Keep Animals Happy: Feed them regularly, or they’ll stop producing wool. Nobody likes a hangry sheep.

  3. Don’t Skip Antidotes: If you find sick animals, heal them up with an antidote. A healthy animal is a productive one.

Summary

Find sheep or alpacas in the Emerald Isles.

Craft Shears to harvest wool.

Use wool to craft sails, fabrics, and other items.

With this simple guide, you’ll be rolling in wool in no time. Your sails will be flying, and your animals will (hopefully) still like you. Happy shearing!
