Mewgenics Broken Mirror Guide: How To Complete The Quest Safely

Mewgenics Broken Magic Mirror Guide: How To Complete The Quest Safely

The Broken Magic Mirror is one of the harder Invention quests in Mewgenics. It locks onto a cat, gives your team very bad event luck, and cannot be removed once equipped. If you survive a full act with it, the item upgrades into a strong defensive tool that can reflect projectiles and summon a Spookie.

This quest is not about raw damage. It is about surviving bad events without losing the cat holding the item.

How To Unlock Broken Magic Mirror

The Broken Magic Mirror comes from Dr. Beanies as part of the Invention quest system.

To unlock Invention quests:

  • Donate 5 cats to Dr. Beanies

  • Those cats must have mutations, disorders, parasites, or birth defects

Once unlocked, the Broken Magic Mirror can appear in his quest pool.

Important rules:

  • You can only hold 5 Invention items at once

  • If your storage is full, you must complete or discard one

  • If the cat holding the item dies, the quest fails

  • If you discard the quest, you must donate 5 cats again to retry

  • The destination you must clear is randomized each time

Choose carefully before starting it.

What Broken Magic Mirror Does

When equipped, the Broken Magic Mirror applies these effects:

  • Your team has very bad luck during events

  • You gain +2 Thorns

  • The item is cursed and cannot be unequipped

The event luck penalty is the real danger. Mixed outcome events skew negative. Riskier options become worse, and safe options matter more than ever.

The +2 Thorns helps slightly in combat, but it does not balance out the event penalty.

How To Survive A Full Act With It

To complete the quest, you must clear a full act while carrying the Broken Magic Mirror.

Play it safe:

  • Put the mirror on a durable cat with high Constitution

  • Avoid stacking multiple Invention items

  • Minimize risky event choices whenever possible

  • Path toward safe combat nodes instead of event heavy routes

  • Build sustain and survivability instead of burst damage

Because the item is cursed, the equipped cat cannot remove it. If that cat dies, the quest fails immediately.

Do not put it on a fragile build. This is not the time to gamble.

The Reward: Magic Mirror Fixed

After clearing the act successfully, the Broken Magic Mirror upgrades into Magic Mirror Fixed.

The upgraded version gives:

  • 20 percent chance to reflect projectiles

  • Spawns a friendly Spookie when downed

Projectile reflect reduces ranged pressure, which becomes more common later in the game. The Spookie spawn adds value even in worst case scenarios where a cat falls.

This is a major upgrade over the cursed version.

Is Broken Magic Mirror Worth Doing

Yes, but not early in a run or early in your progression.

Attempt this quest once:

  • You have stable team builds

  • You understand event risk patterns

  • You can consistently clear an act

If attempted too early, the event penalty can stall progress and cost you strong cats.

Final Blurb

The Broken Magic Mirror quest tests risk management more than combat skill. Events become your biggest threat, not enemies. Survive one clean act with the curse active, and you unlock a strong defensive Invention reward that scales into tougher content.
