No Man’s Sky: How to Unlock and Use Exocrafts
No Man’s Sky is a massive space exploration game where you fly around, discover planets, and try not to get eaten by weird alien creatures. You can also build home bases, take on missions, and earn money to upgrade your gear. But as fun as space travel is, walking everywhere is a pain. That’s where Exocrafts come in.
What Are Exocrafts?
Exocrafts are ground vehicles that make getting around planets way less miserable. Planets are huge, and walking across them takes forever. Using your Starship to hop around is an option, but it burns through fuel and wastes time. Exocrafts solve this problem by giving you fast, convenient rides that don’t require launching into space every five minutes.
How to Unlock Exocrafts
To get Exocrafts, you need Geobay blueprints. These are special plans that let you build vehicle stations at your base. You can buy Exocraft blueprints from the Construction Research Station inside the Space Anomaly using Salvaged Data. Some blueprints can also be earned from missions or storyline quests.
Once you unlock them, you can own up to six different Exocrafts, each with its own perks:
Roamer – The first Exocraft you’ll get. Basically a space dune buggy.
Nomad – A hovercraft that can glide over water, making ocean travel easier.
Pilgrim – A two-wheeled Exocraft with only 16 inventory slots. Think of it as a space motorcycle.
Colossus – A giant tank with a built-in Mining Laser for gathering resources. It’s slow but great for farming materials.
Minotaur – A big mech suit that lets you stomp around planets. It’s immune to hazards and can even go underwater.
Nautilon – A full-on submarine for exploring deep oceans. The only Exocraft designed for underwater travel.
How to Use Exocrafts
Once you have an Exocraft, summoning it is easy. If you’re within 750 units of your vehicle, you can call it just like a Starship. If you want to summon it from anywhere, you’ll need to build an Exocraft Summoning Station at your base.
To store Exocrafts at your home base, place the corresponding Geobay for each one. You can also customize them with different paint jobs, decals, and other modifications.
Fueling and Upgrades
Exocrafts don’t run on magic—they need fuel. Luckily, they use common resources like Carbon and Oxygen. Each Exocraft has unique upgrades and built-in equipment, making them useful for different types of planets.
If you’re planning to explore a planet with extreme weather or deep oceans, having the right Exocraft will make life a lot easier. Or you can walk. Your choice.
