Oblivion Remastered File Size & System Requirements Guide

When Bethesda said Oblivion Remastered was available "today," a lot of us hit download without asking questions. Then came the shock—125 GB. Yes, this is the same game where you fight Mud Crabs, but now it takes up as much space as a small galaxy.
Here’s why the game is so massive, and what kind of hardware you’ll need to actually run it without your PC begging for mercy.
How Big is Oblivion Remastered?
Oblivion Remastered will take up 125 GB of storage space. That’s a long way from the original 2006 version, which could fit on a DVD. But with Unreal Engine 5, high-res textures, and landscapes built with "millions of polygons," Cyrodiil got a serious upgrade—and your hard drive is paying the price.
No RTX ray tracing here, but the advanced Lumen lighting system still adds weight. If your GPU doesn’t support hardware Lumen, don’t worry—you can fall back to the software version. Either way, your storage is getting a workout.
Minimum System Requirements
To even launch the game, you’ll need Windows 10 64-bit, a decent processor like a Ryzen 5 2600X or Intel i7-6800K, and at least 16 GB of RAM. For graphics, you’re looking at needing something like a Radeon RX 5700 or a GeForce 1070 Ti (1080+ preferred).
And yes, you’ll need that full 125 GB of free space ready to go.
Recommended System Requirements
If you want smoother gameplay and fewer settings turned down, you’ll need a stronger setup. A Ryzen 5 3600X or Intel i5-10600K is recommended, along with 32 GB of RAM. For graphics, aim for a Radeon RX 6800 XT or an RTX 2080.
While the game avoids RTX ray tracing, it still leans heavily on modern hardware to handle all those shiny new visuals.
What About Steam Deck?
Oblivion Remastered is Steam Deck Verified, but don’t expect miracles. You’ll need to drop settings to keep things playable, and storage will still take a hit. At least you won’t need to buy a new GPU—small victories.

Final Blurb
Oblivion Remastered looks incredible, but between the 125 GB install size and the hefty RAM demands, it’s clear this isn’t the lightweight RPG from 2006 anymore. Make sure you clear some space—and maybe say goodbye to a few old games—before stepping back into Cyrodiil.
At least Horse Armor looks better in 4K.
