The next big update for R.E.P.O. is packed with new features, quality-of-life fixes, and just enough chaos to keep things interesting. From matchmaking improvements to a new museum level, better item placement mechanics, new expressions, and the mysterious Duck Bucket, here’s everything you need to know about what’s coming soon.

Matchmaking – Public Lobbies & The Kick Button

Discussion of public lobbies/matchmaking in the game repo and the kick button

One of the biggest changes coming is public matchmaking. Right now, if you want to play with randoms, you have to find a group through Discord or other social channels. The next update will let you host public or private lobbies, making it way easier to find a crew.

However, with great public lobbies comes great trolling. To handle this, the devs are adding a kick button, so if someone joins just to ruin your run or throw all your loot into lava, you can yeet them out of the game instantly.

There’s no full server browser yet, but at least you won’t be stuck playing solo if your friends are offline. They just gotta get around to the server coding.

New Level – The Museum

New R.E.P.O. (repo) level coming, called The Museum

The new museum level is on its way, and it looks like parkour is about to become a mandatory skill. Expect:

  • Thin walkways and lots of verticality – Because nothing makes looting more stressful than the risk of plummeting to your death.

  • New enemies lurking behind priceless artifacts – Because a security system would be too easy.

  • High-value loot that will probably fall out of bounds if you’re not careful.

Speaking of which…

New “Out of Bounds” Guidelines for the Extractor

R.E.P.O. "Out of Bounds" extraction guide update for the game red line

Ever thought you secured an item in the Extractor, only to hear the crushing sound of failure when you realized it was too close to the edge? The next update adds a guideline showing exactly where you should place loot inside the Extractor so it doesn’t get smashed.

  • If it’s not far enough in, you’ll get a warning.

  • If you ignore that warning, well… good luck explaining that to your team.

Simple? Yes. Absolutely necessary? Also yes.

New Expressions

R.E.P.O. (repo) game expressions coming in an update soon

R.E.P.O. is finally getting a new set of character expressions, meaning your googly-eyed robot can now look appropriately horrified, furious, or just plain done with life.

This is a step up from other co-op horror games, which typically leave you stuck in a permanent blank stare, no matter how bad things get.

  • Angry? There’s an expression for that.

  • Panicked? Same.

  • Completely over it? Yep, they’ve got that too.

Now your character can react exactly how you do when your teammate “accidentally” throws a $20,000 item into acid.

The Duck Bucket – The Hero We Didn’t Know We Needed

And now, the most important feature: the Duck Bucket.

If you haven’t encountered the duck yet, congratulations. If you have, you already know why this is necessary.

  • What does the Duck Bucket do?

    • You place it over the duck.

    • The duck is contained.

    • You move on with your life.

That’s it. That’s the entire mechanic. And honestly? It’s the best thing ever.

New Save System & Multiple Save Slots

Saved Games menu in the game R.E.P.O. (repo) that is coming save game

This is something that wasn’t explicitly stated, but here’s a screenshot seen during the update video. R.E.P.O.’s old save system was unforgiving—you had to exit properly after a run to keep your progress, and if you died? The game basically wiped your save like you never existed.

Now, it looks like multiple save slots and a proper Saved Games menu are coming, meaning:

  • You can have more than one save file.

  • Previous runs are stored, letting you continue from where you left off.

  • No more losing progress because of a bad exit or full team wipe.

For anyone who’s had hours of progress erased, this is a game-changer.

R.E.P.O. Official Discord

With R.E.P.O.'s sudden rise to fame, the internet did what it does best—spawned a bunch of fake Discord servers pretending to be the real deal. Some of these are harmless, others are just confusing, and a few are probably run by a guy named Greg who insists he’s a developer (he’s not).

To clear things up: there is only one official R.E.P.O. Discord, and you can find it here: Official R.E.P.O. Discord.

Why should you join?

  • Get actual updates from the devs, not some rando claiming the next update adds jetpacks.

  • Report bugs (but only if you're playing the actual game—modded versions are on their own).

  • Find teammates who (hopefully) won’t throw all your loot into lava.

  • Give feedback on game balance, matchmaking, or why the Duck Bucket should be free.

If you’re already in a "R.E.P.O. Official Discord" that isn’t linked above… congrats, you’ve been scammed. Get out before Greg tries to sell you a fake roadmap.

Final Blurb

The next R.E.P.O. update is bringing some major improvements, including matchmaking, a new level, loot placement fixes, actual character expressions, and—most importantly—a way to contain the duck.

With a museum full of expensive loot, public lobbies, and better Extractor placement, R.E.P.O. is only getting better. And if the devs keep this up, who knows what ridiculous but surprisingly useful features we’ll get next?
