Split Fiction has 12 Side Stories, each offering unique challenges based on Mio and Zoe’s past works. These self-contained levels introduce different gameplay mechanics, new environments, and sometimes, pure chaos. Here’s how to find and complete them all.

Neon Revenge Side Stories

The Legend of the Sandfish

  • Location: After the highway chase sequence in Neon Revenge, a short cutscene introduces the Side Story portal.

  • Objective: Escape an hourglass while using thumpers to distract massive sandfish.

Farmlife

  • Location: After defeating Mr. Hammer and finishing the chase sequence, the portal is visible behind a short barrier.

  • Objective: Play as magical pigs with stretchy powers and rainbow farts, because why not?

Mountain Hike

  • Location: Find the three portable toilets in a row. Mio must enter one, and Zoe must throw it over the ledge. Mio then lowers a ladder to reach the portal.

  • Objective: Ride on the backs of friendly giants to explore a massive mountain range.

Hopes of Spring Side Stories

Train Heist

  • Location: After Mio drags Zoe through the water on a floating log, look for the portal nearby. Wallrun and grapple across a pond to reach it.

  • Objective: A high-speed chase featuring wingsuits, water skis, and a final boss fight against The Conductor.

Gameshow

  • Location: After Zoe controls the environment in the sidescrolling section, look for a futuristic building to the left of the main path.

  • Objective: Survive a dystopian game show, passing a bomb back and forth while avoiding deadly platforming challenges.

Collapsing Star

  • Location: In the Ice King’s palace, about halfway to the top, you’ll encounter this portal on a balcony.

  • Objective: Navigate a collapsing star by dodging energy waves and activating protective barriers.

Final Dawn Side Stories

Kites

  • Location: After obtaining the Shield Buster, follow the toxin-filled tube to its end. The portal is visible from a distance.

  • Objective: A high-speed aerial race with kites, cannons, and speed boost rings.

Moon Market

  • Location: After defeating the Factory Warden, continue through the level until reaching a crane section. Shoot colored symbols to open a door, then spot the portal on a ledge above a platforming section.

  • Objective: Solve puzzles and find three cat spirits to open the market’s final gate.

Notebook

  • Location: After getting the jetpack, look for a floating ledge to the left of a massive spinning wheel of doom.

  • Objective: A 2D, hand-drawn adventure set inside one of Zoe’s unfinished story drafts.

Rise of the Dragon Realm Side Stories

Slopes of War

  • Location: Before reaching the rock-skipping pool, look left of the golden platforms for a lever puzzle that opens the portal.

  • Objective: A downhill snowboard race where players can perform tricks for extra points.

Space Escape

  • Location: After defeating the Dragon Slayer boss, look for the portal to the right. Zoe must launch Mio up to a ledge to drop a column, allowing access.

  • Objective: Escape a doomed space station using zero-gravity platforming and oxygen management.

Birthday Cake

  • Location: After completing the Dragon Souls puzzle, look for a floating gummy bear to the left of the main path.

  • Objective: Play as googly-eyed teeth in a candy-filled world, leading to a hilariously terrifying boss fight.

Final Blurb

Each Side Story in Split Fiction offers a break from the main adventure with unique mechanics and often absurd scenarios. Whether you’re escaping a collapsing star or farting rainbows as a pig, they’re all worth experiencing.
