Where to Get a Spade in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

A sword is great for fighting. A bow is great for hunting. A spade? Well, that’s great for… other things. Maybe you need to dig up a grave for a quest. Maybe you just enjoy a bit of casual medieval grave robbing. Either way, you’re going to need one.

Where to Find a Free Spade

The best way to get a spade is to find one lying around—because why pay for a tool when you can “borrow” one indefinitely? Head to the graveyard east of Troskowitz, just outside of town. Look for a spade resting against the building inside. Snag it when no one’s watching, and it’s yours forever.

If you’re not near Troskowitz, don’t worry—graveyards near any town tend to have spades lying around. It’s almost like people keep burying folks and forgetting to clean up after themselves.

Once you have a spade, don’t drop it—you won’t find them just anywhere. If you don’t want to lug it around, toss it in your horse’s storage. Your horse won’t mind. Probably.

Buying a Spade (If You Insist on Being Honest)

If you’d rather spend money than commit minor theft, you can buy a spade from:

  • Miners – Because who else is going to have extra digging tools?

  • Traders – They sell everything, so why not a spade?

  • Innkeepers at Taverns – Because sometimes you need a drink and a shovel.

Not every merchant carries them, so you might have to ask around. The good news? Spades are dirt cheap, usually around six Groschen—a small price to pay for a tool that can quite literally dig up treasure.

Once you’ve got your spade, you’re ready for all your totally legal and not-at-all suspicious digging needs. Just try not to get caught, yeah?
