Lockpicks are essential if you plan on sneaking into places you probably shouldn’t be. It doesn’t matter if you’re after loot, shortcuts, or just enjoy making life harder for the local blacksmith, we’ve got a guide on where to find lockpicks in KCD2.

Early-Game Lockpicks

  • Bara the Beggar (Troskowitz) – Early on, look for a beggar woman named Bara. If you ask her about where to get clothes and armor, she’ll kindly hand over a lockpick—because nothing says charity like enabling crime.

  • The Carpenter’s House (Troskowitz) – Across from the tavern, there’s a house full of loot. At night, climb the log pile to reach the second floor, then pickpocket the carpenter and his father for keys. Use these to open nearby chests with weapons, shields, and—you guessed it—lockpicks. You can repeat this every few in-game days.

Buying Lockpicks

If you prefer the legal route (boring, but okay), you can buy lockpicks from:

  • Blacksmiths

  • General Traders

  • Tavern Keepers

They’re pricey, though, so either save up your Groschen or just go back to robbing the carpenter.

Bonus Tips

  • Lock difficulty ranges from very easy to very hard – If you struggle, start with easy locks to practice.

  • Perks like Tool Master make lockpicks last longer – Fewer breakages mean less frustration.

  • A Quickfinger Potion boosts your lockpicking skill – It won’t do the work for you, but it helps.

That’s all you need to get started on your lockpicking career. Just don’t get caught—guards have a funny way of disliking thieves.
